Silver Linings and Awesome!

Some days are easier than others. We all know that. We’ve been there.

It’s what we do on those days that make us who we are.

Starting at the New Year I started preaching that 2011 was going to be the year of Awesome. It’s in my Twitter stream daily. My current BBM status is “I’m Awesome & so are you”. And I do my very best every day to tell people how great they are.

Here’s why, to go along with Awesome, 2011 is also the year of the Silver Lining.

It is my firm belief that on the darkest of days there is a Silver Lining. It took me a long, long time to come to that conclusion. I went through a lot of dark days without looking for Silver Linings. Those days sucked. They felt like they took forever. They were boring. They were sad. They were stressful. But they didn’t have to be.

Through the darkest of my days I’ve never been alone. I’ve only made the choice to feel that I was. In the lowest of my lows I wasn’t stuck at the bottom of the well, I was refusing to grab hold of the rope that was being offered to me as a way out. It’s only now that I can look back and see these things. It seemed impossible at the time. But I was wrong.

That’s why every day I’m looking for reasons to smile. Smiling is Awesome and it’s why I tweet things like this –

Some days it’s so that I can remind myself. But more than anything it is with hopes that if someone is having a shitty day they can be reminded that there is something in their world that is worth that smile.

Right now I’m a huge fan of what Reggy is doing on her Tumblr with her 3 smiles a day posts. She fully admits the fact that it isn’t always easy. And that’s the most important part of all.

There is no use trying to pretend that the world is always a happy, shiny place. It isn’t. Shit happens. It happens to good people at bad times and it can be really hard to handle.

But you have, have, have to remember that you are not alone. I can promise you that. Because if you are reading this right now I will be here for you when you are at the bottom of a well, or stuck in waist deep shit or stuck in a dark closet or .

I will be here to help clean you up, dry you off and do whatever I can to get a smile on your face. Even just a small one, even just for a minute. I will do that for you because I know that there are people that will do the same thing for me.

And that circle means that we all remember to smiles, to find our Silver Linings and to be Awesome!
