The Mod Club Sends Me to Michou and USS – I Love Toronto!

5

Tonight I was a lucky boy! I tweeted something along those lines earlier. And I meant it.

Let me break it down for you.

Last night, my lovely lady friend told me that she was hoping against hope that there was a way for her to get into The Mod Club to see Michou presented by Edge 102.1. I tweeted that I was hoping to find a way to get her into the show. I got a response from @CatKaos saying that she would try her best. That made us smile. People are awesome!

Then I woke up this morning and there was a tweet waiting for me from the middle of the night from @TheModClub. I was surprised. Excited. Hopeful. I tweeted back, hoping that it would make a difference. I even tweeted Michou (@itsnicetomichou) and asked if they had a way for us to get in.

Then again this evening there was more hope when @TheModClub started following me. We sent some DMs. I explained to the world that I was trying to win the Boyfriend of the Month. And then BAM! Just hours (like 2) before the show started I got the go ahead. We were on the list. Social Media, good karma, high fives and a little good luck got the job done.

So, thanks to the @TheModClub tweeter, there we were, to the right of the stage, just before Michou came on and with smiles plastered on our faces. The boys came out and started singing some sweet, sweet sounds into our ears. I had never seen the band play live until tonight. And I’m glad that I got the opportunity. All four band members sound great together when they sang. They smiled while they were on the stage. And they got the crowd into the gig.

But the best moment for me came when the snare skin broke and guitarist/lead singer Mike played a solo/acoustic track with some harmonies coming from his boys. It was simple, stripped down, unplanned and a great addition to the show. It was exactly what live music is all about. I dug it.

If you haven’t heard anything from the quartet from Windsor, Ontario do yourself a favour and check them out.

After Michou came USS. Most of the crowd was certainly there to see their set. The energy in The Mod Club picked up. The youth and enthusiasm started showing. And then they took the stage.

With a pretty slick mix of DJ’d tracks and a single guitar these dudes blend together some catchy tracks. They have energy. They have talent. They have stage presence. And they have fun!

They also have the #1 album on iTunes (under $8) today. That deserves some congratulations.

I apologize that the photos I have aren’t great in the quality department. I snapped them with my BB. But I hope they help you get the picture.

See what I did there?

Anywho – the night was awesome! We dug it! I earned Boyfriend of the Month (and it’s only the 3rd)! And I got to meet the @TheModClub tweeter.

Side note: We’re working to get @TheModClub to 1000 followers. I know that a few of you have jumped on the train today. I appreciate that and I know that the club does as well. But there are more of you out there, especially in Toronto, who aren’t following yet. Get on it!

In summary – great night, great music, great luck, great club, great to be living in Toronto!

Stay awesome kids, it pays off!
