It’s Been A Good Run – I’m Lucky!
Once in a while you get on a good run. Things seem to go your way. You get all the bounces, etc. etc. etc.
This week kinda had one of those feels. Without going into a bunch of convoluted stories I can tell you that we had a case of Quaker Apple Cinammon instant oatmeal delivered to us at work. There are now 12 boxes of breakfasty goodness in a drawer in the office.
Side Note: If you haven’t done it yet please go to facebook.com/quakercanada and get in on the Unlock Amazing campaign which helps donate bowls of oatmeal to Food Banks Canada. It’s fast and easy and it’s a good cause.
On Friday I got home from work and checked the mail box as per usual and was happy to see that Canada Post had left me a tag for a parcel. I knew what it was and got pretty excited. A little while ago I was lucky enough to end up a winner over at @keriblog‘s Caramilk contest on her blog. Saturday afternoon I picked up the parcel and now I have a bunch of chocolate that will make me sick or fat if I don’t learn moderation.
Side Note: Thank you again Keri. You’re the awesome.
Then Saturday came and I made plans to hang out with @photojunkie which is always a good move on my part. He met me at The Abbott for a coffee while I posted my NFL week 2 picks and then we hopped in the cube. We managed to find ourselves in The Beaches for most of the day walking around and chatting and eating lunch and snapping photos in the park. And then I was treated to tasty tasty treats in the form of mini cupcakes from Rannie’s favourite bake shop in the east end. They were pretty darn good. It was a great afternoon.
But the day didn’t stop there. Shortly after getting home the phone rang and it was Rannie again. This time asking if I wanted to hit the TIFF 2011 closing gala and party. I’m not a dummy and had never been to a TIFF event so I said yes and we had a lovely time. The film (Page Eight) came from the BBC and starred Bill Nighy and Rachel Weisz in performances that differed from roles I’d seen them in over the last few years. The closing party was all class with great h’or deurves around the room, Sky Vodka, Stella Artois and Wolfbass red and white available for enjoyment. And I enjoyed it.
Side Note: Thanks again to Rannie as well. He’s an all around good dude.
I also grabbed a dvd copy of Accepted for about $5 at BlockBuster’s closing sale. That’s awesome as far as I’m concerned.
So ya, I feel like I’ve been a lucky dude in the last few days. It’s a good feeling. I hope you’ve had some smiles too!
