Dear Mother Nature, I Miss Winter

I Miss Winter. There I said it. Hate me if you will, side with me if you want, laugh at me if you must.Maybe it’s because of all the of the cool memories I have from winters in my childhood. Maybe it’s because I don’t drive anymore. Maybe it’s because it’s traditional. Maybe it’s because that’s the way it’s supposed to be. Either way, I miss it.

Today I’ve been outside drinking coffee and smoking in a hoodie and jeans. No scarf, no gloves, no coat, heck – I’m wearing running shoes and my feet aren’t cold… that’s not January 12th weather in Toronto. That’s not right.

Note: It’s raining today… rain – that’s not right either.

Since “winter” started I’ve said that all I want is a cold snap and some fluffy snow by mid-February so that my friends and I can celebrate my 30th birthday on the ice and tobogganing down hills at my mom’s place. But now I’m getting impatient. That’s still a few weeks away and there are no tangible signs that it’s coming.

The local weather reports show that colder temperatures are coming in and there may be some snow as well… but that’s happened already and we have returned to above the freezing mark and back into spring like conditions. That’s not going to work for me.

I Miss This
Dear Mother Nature, This is me asking please and thank you for some winter weather. It just feels wrong to flip the January calendar pages without it.

Much Love,

Joshua

Note: I hope Mother Nature reads the blog, if you have her twitter handle can you please tweet the link to her?

Alright kids, it’s time for me to go back to wishing, hoping and praying. Help me if you can.

I miss winter.

Smile big. Be awesome.

I Miss This Too

edit: It’s Friday, January 13th – the day after this post and we are getting snow and wind and winter in Toronto…
