The Countdown Is On – Are You Ready For Some Football?

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages… we are only 10 DAYS AWAY from the start of the NFL season.

To say I’m excited would be correct.

I love sports (a well documented fact, I know) and the NFL season is another great piece to my sports fan puzzle. Especially this year with the uncertainty of an NHL season getting started on time or taking place at all.

So, September 5 at 8:30pm has now become an important date and time on my calendar. In fact, if you check the sidebar you can see that we’re counting down to kick-off right now! And the best part is that on Wednesday, September 5th, when NBC goes live and it’s time to play football… MY Dallas Cowboys will be taking the field at MetLife Stadium to take on the NY Giants.

That’s right, on opening night, when there’s only one game on, my team will be there and I’ll be cheering!

Now, the 2012-13 season looks to be anything but a cakewalk for the Cowboys as the NFC East has gotten no easier to play in and could very well supply the NFC’s Superbowl team again this year.

For things to go right in Dallas we need some things to happen:

  • Tony Romo has got to be on his game early and often and consistently.
  • Dez Bryant has to stay out of trouble.
  • Dez Bryant has to stay out of the trainers room.
  • Jason Witten needs to be healthy and reliable and his usual self.
  • Jerry Jones needs to stay out of the way.
  • Coach Garrett has to get the most out of his entire roster at all times.
  • The Giants and Eagles have to make some mistakes.
  • We’ve got to be able to run the ball.

As (almost) always, at the start of a season, I am cautiously optimistic. I expect playoffs. I predict a first round win on the road.

But there’s a long time between now and then… and 10 days until we get things started.

Are you ready for some football?

I am.
