What I’m Digging On TV – Fall 2012
I love TV – this should not be news to you.
There’s some really great stuff on TV this fall – hopefully not news.
Here are some of the TV shows that I’m really enjoying so far this fall. It’s a mix of hour-long dramas and half-hour sitcoms. It’s lacking in Chuck and House since they have ended… but it has a new hero and some old friends.
All of these shows get my make believe stamp of approval. Enjoy them!
Happy Endings
The gang is back and they are hilarious. Yes, I know they got a late start to the fall season so there hasn’t been much to judge. But I really dig this show and the characters and the way that they all work together.
I read a quote somewhere that said something like “this show was like Friends on espresso and speed” – they aren’t wrong. The laughs per minute are pretty high on this bad boy.
The Walking Dead
We all know by now that I could go on and on about The Walking Dead. I think it’s the #1 show on television. The story telling, acting and visuals are outstanding. AMC is doing an amazing job of adapting the Zombie comics into must see TV every Sunday night. So far, season 3 has not disappointed with the reintroduction of an old character, the introduction of a new player in the game and an amputation that may have made me gasp.
If you’re not watching The Walking Dead… why?
How I Met Your Mother
Kids, we are now in the 8th season of HIMYM and the search for the mother of Ted’s children. I can feel it coming. It’s getting closer. That girl with the yellow umbrella has got to be around here somewhere. Some people have lost the love for the 5 friends in NYC. They say it’s taken too long to get to a resolution. However, I’m still into it.
Keep an eye on this one my friends, I have a good feeling about the second half of the season. And I’ll miss it when it’s over.
Arrow
The new hero on the block is here with vengeance. And a bow. Ollie is back from the island, working on his list and working his awesome green wardrobe. I’m all in on this show. In fact, I just watched the 4th episode and am kinda sad that I have to wait of Wednesday to see #5.
If you like the way that superhero franchises like Batman and Spider-Man have gone, you’re going to like the direction that this thing is going. Real people, no powers, characters with stories, villains from the DC comics and good looking actors. Keep watching!
Revolution
JJ Abrams is back with Revolution on NBC. The power has gone out all over the world and nobody knows why or how. The land has been taken over by nature. People have struggled and died and tried to move on. And one man is running the former United States with a powerful militia.
Check out this new Monday night prime time drama for action and pretty cool scenery and an adventure in rebellion and an attempt to save the world.
Also on my list of things that I’m watching are The Big Bang Theory (still funny), The Mentalist (still smart) and Once Upon A Time (still entertaining, but coming close to jumping the shark) – if you love TV as much as I do, you might want to check them out as well. Or you already are. Which makes a lot more sense.
I know that TV isn’t the be all, end all. And I’m not trying to get you to buy a better cable package here… notice the lack of HBO shows. I just want you to be entertained and enjoy your time on the couch when you’re decompressing from all those long days in the office.
Keep being awesome out there!
