5 Reasons We’re Excited to See Sloan at WayHome Music & Arts Festival

WayHome is less than 30 days away, and the excitement is building. We all know that everyone is excited for Neil Young (can’t wait), Sam Smith (welcome back to the stage), and Kendrick Lamar (the Bonaroo reviews have been outstanding) but there’s a lot more than that on the way.

Trish broke down a list of 5 mid-card acts that we can’t wait to see at WayHome, and now we’re looking at Sloan and 5 reasons why we can’t wait to see them up on stage.

Have a look and tell us who you’re looking forward to and why you can’t wait for July 24 – 26 at Burl’s Creek.

Big Shiny Tunes Album CoverNostalgia

Sloan takes us all the way back to the original Big Shiny Tunes collection, the 9th track of the record was The Good in Everyone… and sandwiched between The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Aeroplane and Better than Ezra’s King of New Orleans, it’s the stand out track. We can’t wait to go back to 1996 and sing along.

Hands up if you’ll be singing along too.
Good for you!

Canadian FlagCanCon

They aren’t the only Canadian act playing at WayHome, but it is nice to see Sloan on the bill along with Neil Young, The Sheepdogs, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Yukon Blonde, and more. Barrie isn’t exactly home for the Halifax quartet, but it’s close enough for us!

It might be lame to count “being Canadian” as a reason to be excited, but that’s our truth. And we’re not sorry.

With more than 20 years under their belts, Sloan knows exactly what they want to do up on stage, and they do it. There’s no wondering what song is next on the set list (we hope) and they’ve done it all before.

A lot of bands playing WayHome are new at this. And we know that they’re going to give it everything they’ve got, but there’s something to be said about experience with the crowd and your music and the entire process. We can’t wait to see Sloan put on a clinic.

We already said we can’t wait to sing along to The Good in Everyone, but that’s not the only one. You can add The Other Man, If It Feels Good Do It, and Money City Maniacs to that list. We know that the hardcore fans are going to know the words to every song, and that’s awesome because one of the very coolest things about any concert or festival is thousands of people singing as loud as they can in one big voice.

Speaking of Money City Maniacs, it has one of the most fun intros we know. If that crank siren rings out, and the guitar kicks in, we’ll be happy. We can’t guarantee that the crowd is going to pop when it starts playing from the stage…

but we sure hope so. And we’re sure the band does too.
