Imagine Dragons, Metric and Halsey – Smoke + Mirrors Tour
Tonight the Imagine Dragons Smoke + Mirrors Tour arrives in Toronto. They’re touring with one of my favourite Canadian bands, Metric, and newcomer, Halsey, who rounds out the line up. I couldn’t wait for the Toronto show, so I made my way to The First Niagara Center on June 24th. I’m really glad I did. It was so good I wish I was heading back tonight to cover it from the pit.
First up was Halsey. I’d never heard her before, but I instantly liked her. The American singer/songwriter has an honest feel to her. It was a nice way to get the show going. Have a listen.

Second on the bill was Metric and they did a great job turning up the energy level. They sounded great and they had a fantastic light show. They’ve got a new single out, “Shade” and the new album will be out September 18th. They’ve got a pretty cool pre-order happening which includes an EP – cassette, signed by the band in a choice of four colours.
My only complaint, I wish they could have played longer.

And then Imagine Dragons took the stage. They did it with a wonderful twist of mystery, and the crowd went crazy! This rarely happens but I’m almost at a loss for words. As I sit here writing, tears are welling up in my eyes. This show, this music, these guys, so much awesome.
The connection with the crowd was instant. Lead singer Dan Reynolds spoke to us with love and appreciation and we absolutely returned it. They’re playing tonight in Toronto and there are still a few tickets left. If you haven’t seen them and you’re wondering how they’d be live… stop wondering. They will take your breath away.
Non-stop memorable moments. I’m feeling like I should go buy a ticket for tonight.
That good.
