Hozier at WayHome 2015: Take Me to Church

Hozier WayHome Arts and Music Festival 1

In the early evening hours of Friday at WayHome, Hozier took over the main stage with his hair tied back, his Irish accent on thick, and his guitars tuned and ready for action.

Hozier-8468The Hozier set was a Bluesy, well rounded hour that included a cello, keys, bass, drums, and 2 back-up singers… and then also the man himself with no fewer than 5 guitars swapped in and out throughout. To be honest we kind of lost track, there may have been more than 5.

And as a point of fact, the dude can wail on those guitars.

From the moment he walked on stage, the crowd was into it. With a big pop on entrance, hand claps to keep the beat, and a little call and answer session. There were also a lot of fans in the crowd singing along to nearly every song which has to be encouraging for an artist mostly known for 1 hit, and working hard to get the rest of his music to the masses.

While we don’t have a complete set list for you (sorry), we can tell you that Hozier did break out these songs, and more on Friday at WayHome 2015.

Hozier-8321† Angel of Small Death & the Codeine Scene
† From Eden
† To Be Alone
† Someone New
† Like Real People Do
† Arsonist’s Lullaby
† Sedated
† Problem (Ariana Grande cover, which we were told was “just for funsies”)
† Work Song
† Take Me to Church

We don’t know when Hozier will be back in the Toronto area, his tour schedule isn’t posted that far in advance… but when he does come back, take a look at the lineup and have a good hard think about going to that show. Because if this 25 year old singing, guitar playing Irishman is on the bill with anyone cool at all, it’s going to be a show you don’t want to miss.

Stay tuned for more from WayHome…

Be Awesome!
