Rebel Content: Neil Young at WayHome 2015

3

On Friday night, on the WayHome main stage, the main event showed up!

Neil Young put on an incredible 3 hour set in front (my guess) 20,000+ fans – and he was ever single bit the legend that we believe him to be.

It’s still serious business when Neil Young is in song, pushing out lyrics to the hits we know and love – and the new songs that are a personal quest against Monsanto and GMOs for the legendary activist. But once in a while he cracks a smile and it lights up his face like we’re all in the same happy place together. It’s pure joy.

It’s also incredible to watch him play the piano, organ, harmonica, acoustic and electric guitars. He has well worn equipment that match his experience and status in music history. If at 69 and a half years old, I can still do anything I love with the proficiency that Neil Young puts on a rock show, I’ll be a very happy old man.

Keep this in mind as well… to see this live show isn’t to see radio cuts played live. These songs are packed with extended guitar solos and musical breaks – with the average song length hovering somewhere around the 7.5 minute mark. It’s amazing to watch, hypnotizing to a point – and I could have watched him play for another full hour.

Shout out to Promise of the Real, they did a great job playing with Neil Young on the old tracks and the new.

Now, I did my very best to take notes and keep up – and I think I got it all down. So here now is…

Neil Young WayHome Rockin in the Free World

For 3 hours Neil Young held court at WayHome, and he didn’t get to hits like Harvest Moon and Old Man. It was a set and a night that won’t soon be forgotten by the fans who have been waiting for years to see him for the first time, or those who were seeing him again because they love him.

Well done Uncle Neil!
