5 Quick Questions with Blitz//Berlin!
We had the chance to catch up with Martin and Tristan of Blitz//Berlin at OMDC’s Ontario JUNO Award Nominee Reception in Toronto… so we snagged them for 5 quick questions!
Many thanks to the boys for taking the time to stop to chat with us in a busy room, and congratulations to Blitz//Berlin on their 2017 Juno Award nomination for Instrumental Album of the Year for Movements 1.
Q1: Which Canadian artist would you most like to work with, that you haven’t had a chance to yet in your career?
B//B: Lights and Gord Downie.
We can’t argue with either of those choices. And while they may result in very different songs, we’d be into hearing both of them.
Q2: Which Canadian album would you choose to put on during a long road trip… on a loop.
B//B: Moneen: The Red Tree
The album was released in April 2006, making it 11 years old now – but it holds up.
Q3: What was the first concert you went to?
B//B: Martin – Sharon, Lois & Bram (which ended in tears – but in more “funny little kid” story than sad thing). Tristan – 1st concert he remembers not being allowed to go to… Swollen Members. (Mom said no way on that one)
Q4: What is your favourite thing about Ottawa?
B//B: Two things… 1) The SconeWitch (150 Elgin St) 2) Ghost hunting at the Château Laurier.
Q5: What Canadian artist do you think people should be paying more attention to?
B//B: Andy Shauf.
We don’t know Andy yet… but he’s nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and is on the bill for WayHome 2017 – and we’ll be watching for him!
Q5b: What is your prediction for the 2017 Toronto Blue Jays season?
B//B: No Playoffs 🙁
Too many home runs to make up… doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.
