5 Quick Questions with Vanessa Marie Carter: Holiday Edition and Mom’s Shortbread Recipe
Vanessa Marie Carter has had a lot of excitement in 2017 – and now Christmas is coming to put a bow on things!
In late October, VMC released Bless My Heart, her debut single with Universal Music, and a preview of what we hope is coming in 2018. We also saw Vanessa this summer on stage at Boots & Hearts, playing new songs, covers, and revving up the country music fans for a party!

5 Quick Holiday Questions with Vanessa Marie Carter
Q) Did you have a favourite Christmas songs when you were a kid?
VMC) I always really liked the good Christmas classics, Bing Crosby for the win!! But when I was a kid (and still now) Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays by NSYNC was always a fave.
Q) Do you have a favourite Christmas song to play?
VMC) I really love doing Blue Christmas, or Silent Night 🙂
Q) If you could partner up with any artist for a collaboration on a Christmas song, who would you choose?
VMC) I was pretty jealous when I heard the Meghan Trainor & Brett Eldredge collab for Baby It’s Cold Outside. So probably that!
Q) What is your favourite beverage for a holiday party?
VMC) I’ve never been a big sweet drink person, but I do love a good festive red wine sangria
Q) If you could only have 1 dessert after Christmas dinner, what would you choose?
VMC) My Grandma’s Brandy Snaps… I think she purposely never makes enough so she can see us all fight for them!
We also asked Vanessa if she had a favourite recipe to share and she said, “I have so many favourites!! But my Mom makes a mean shortbread that I look forward to every year.”
And here’s the recipe!
Mom’s Shortbread
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup unsalted butter at room temp
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl, adding the butter last.
2. Mix ingredients until well combined.
3. Roll into bite size balls and flatten with a cookie press.
4. Bake at 350°F for 12 minutes
