Shot Of Glory: The Washboard Union at BATL Toronto
The Washboard Union look like the kind of guys that know how to throw an axe… and on Monday in Toronto, they proved that they can!
We had the chance to hang out with the Warner Music Canada trio and friends at Toronto’s Backyard Axe Throwing League (BATL), kicking off the week in style. It was a fantastic two hours of laughs and axes, and if you’ve never tossed a hatchet at a target, we highly recommend that you give it a try. We didn’t ask specifically, but we’re confident that Aaron, Chris, and Dave would all agree with our recommendation.
We also need to point out that The Washboard Union did well in the axe throwing tournament on Monday, putting up points, and finding the bullseye with some regularity. And, if that wasn’t enough, Chris went all out, nailing a seven point clutch shot that brought on a well-earned round of applause.
After the throwing was done, we headed over to Cherry Street Bar-B-Que for some tasty BBQ treats, drinks, a special presentation, and an early opportunity to listen to some new songs from the band.
We can’t tell you everything that we know, but we can tell you this…
The Washboard Union’s new album, What We’re Made Of, is coming this April.
The lead single, What We’re Made Of, is available now to download and stream – which we suggest you do.
We got to hear eight tracks from the upcoming album during dinner time hangouts… and we feel confident telling fans of the band that they are going to like this new music!
And, while we were out celebrating the upcoming release, The Washboard Union was presented with a gold record for Shot Of Glory from their 2015 EP, In My Bones. It’s a great accomplishment, and likely won’t be the last time the boys are handed a gold record for their achievements.
The Washboard Union were also announced as part of the 2018 Boots & Hearts lineup on Monday, making it an even bigger news day for the Vancouver-based bluegrass/country band.
We look forward to hanging out with the guys again to celebrate the official release of What We’re Made Of, and this summer during festival season. Stay tuned for all of that. And if you have any questions for The Washboard Union, leave a comment and we’ll see what we can do to get them answered!

I was lucky enough to hang with them in the KX96 studio just the other day. They had so many great stories to tell and they sang a few songs. They even fed us waffles so it was a win win situation.
