2018 Country Music Association of Ontario Award Nominees
The 2018 final nominees for the Country Music Association of Ontario Awards have been announced!
The awards will be handed out on Sunday, June 3 in London, ON at Centennial Hall, hosted by Jason McCoy. And along with the 15 awards up for grabs, Michelle Wright will be honoured with the Impact Award sponsored by Canadian Music Week.
Wright’s career has given country music fans great hits, longtime favourites, and has earned her a spot in the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. Her recognition with the 2018 Impact Award is well deserved, and we’re happy to see it.
Along with her award, Michelle Wright has been announced as a performer at the CMAO Award show, along with some other great Ontario talent. Meghan Patrick, Tim Hicks, Tebey, Cold Creek County, The Western Swing Authority, and host Jason McCoy are also scheduled to take the stage, turning the award show into a great night of live country music as well.
While opinions may vary from category to category, one thing that all Ontario country music fans should be able to agree on when they look at this list, is that there’s a lot of talent in our province.
Meghan Patrick (Single, Songwriter, Female Artist, Music Video, Fans Choice) and James Barker Band (Single, Album, Group, Video, Fans Choice) lead the way with five nominations each in 2018. Although, JBB does take a slight edge if you include James’s Songwriter of the Year nomination as part of the group that penned Chills.
Tim Hicks leads the male performers with four nominations of his own this year. And, a solid list of country music artists come into the CMAOntario Awards with three nominations including Jason Blaine, Jessica Mitchell, The Road Hammers, Cold Creek Country, and Andrew Hyatt.
As fans, and voting members of the association, it’s important to us to celebrate these nominations. We know how hard these artists, writers, producers, and their teams have worked to make the music that we sing along to.
And while they’ll all tell us that they don’t do it for awards – we know that it feels good to be recognized for the great work that you’ve done.
So, check out the complete list of CMAOntario Awards Final Nominees, and stay tuned because we’ve got more coverage coming – including the chance to win your way into the award show in London, ON on June 3, 2018!
