ZHU Brings The Dune to Toronto
Electronic dance music artist and singer ZHU brought the “Dune” to Toronto on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018. The once anonymous DJ who made everyone a fan of deep house brought deep dark western vibes you never thought you’d find at Rebel Nightclub.
The night kicked off with a stellar opening performance from TokiMonsta. Her set was compiled of hip hop and songs from her recent album Lune Rouge. The bass-heavy DJ had everyone grooving. And, by the end of her set, TokiMonsta had everyone warmed up and anticipating the performance of the headliner.
As more and more guests arrived, they poured onto the dance floor trying to get the best spot possible.
The stage was complete darkness, only the silhouette of a tall pyramid had everyone excited. Sounds of twanging guitars began, and windy dirt roads filled the room. Everyone’s hands went up as fans pulled out their phones in hopes of getting an Insta worthy snap. Then, behind the pyramid light, up in a haze, a man in the Cowboy hat raised his hands, and the crowd screamed his name.
The crowd went wild, the room broke out into excitement, and everyone was feeling the music. His performance is like no other DJ I have seen. ZHU sang every vocal and had a live band with instruments, an electric saxophone player to his right, and an electric guitar player to his left, to fill the stage. What more can you ask for?
The overall production of the show was next level artistic and very well thought out. The visuals and sounds placed everyone right in the centre of the dune and made it an exciting experience you don’t want to miss when you have the chance.
