Country Music Community Pushes Meghan Patrick To #1 at Canadian Country Radio

For the second time in 2018, a Canadian woman has made it to the top of the country music radio mountain as Meghan Patrick‘s Walls Come Down claims the #1 spot this week!

We have had the honour and pleasure to watch as Meghan has gone on her solo career journey, played stages big and small from coast-to-coast across the country, released two awesome albums, and won two back-to-back Female Artists of the Year awards from the Canadian Country Music Association, making her one of the biggest country stars we have in Canada. The Bowmanville, ON native joins Lindsay Ell at the top of the Canadian country radio charts. Making them the first pair of women to achieve the spot in the same year since 1999.

That’s 19 years. Nearly two decades. And too damn long.

But today, we’re celebrating. Meghan Patrick has hit #1 with Walls Comes Down!

We often talk about Canadian country artists telling us that the genre is like a family. They meet up to say hi and drink and share stories at awards shows. They are pals on and off the stage. They support each other through social media posts and behind-the-scenes as peers and friends.

That support was evident this weekend as Meghan’s push to #1 started. Posts came through social media from artists like Paul Brandt, The Washboard Union, Brett Kissel, Johnson Crook, Buck Twenty, Kelly Prescott, Chrystal Leigh (Sons Of Daughters) and many, many more. All of those posts offered support for Meghan and her song. All of them urged fans to make requests to their local country radio stations. All of them were part of the Canadian country music family, working together to help one of their own accomplish something special.

It was also fantastic to see all of the fan support on social media over the weekend. Not only were country music listeners calling, texting, and tweeting their local stations, they were also posting their love and bringing other fans onboard. This was a group effort. This was a community coming together.

We can’t wait to see what everyone joins forces to accomplish next!

MY THOUGHTS: @megpatrickmusic‘s SINGLE SHOULD GO #1 – NOT “just” BECAUSE SHE’S A WOMAN… BUT BECAUSE THE SONG IS AMAZING, HER TALENT IS AMAZING, AND SHE, AS A “HUMAN” DESERVES IT! . . . HISTORY: Of course – her single (and Lindsay Ell’s single @lindsayell) both going number 1 would be the first time in 21 (yes, Twenty One) years that two females had #1’s on Canadian Country Radio in the same year… and that would be amazing / long overdue… . . . REQUEST / TEXT / TWEET / COMMENT: So, to get this badass female artist to the top spot, I would like to ask all my fans to drop what they’re doing, and text, tweet, Instagram, Facebook, DM, or kick it old school and call YOUR FAVORITE station to request “WALLS COME DOWN” today! #. . . . STATIONS: I’m personally tagging these stations off the top of my head to increase the spins, and play @megpatrickmusic every hour – on the hour – until this song is #1!! @jrfm @newcountry1007 @country1071 @840cfcw @cisncountry @wild953calgary @country105calgary @impatdubois @bigdog927regina @620ckrm @qx104 @101thefarm @kx947 @kx96fm @kicx917 @newcountry94 @country1011fm @country935fm @kicx106 @realcountry955 @newcountry969 @fx101.9 @hotcountry1035 — and they won’t let me tag anymore accounts…
