Toronto Blessings, Asleep – 5 Quick Questions
Toronto Blessings is a band from Barnsley, a town in South Yorkshire, England. This band’s music recently came through my inbox, and lucky for them, their name caught my eye.
Clicking their link was one of the best things I did that day. Waiting for me was their latest offering, Asleep. A seven-song EP which delivers alternative rock, noise and post-punk with a hit of synth. Formed after their previous hardcore/metal band, Cavorts ended, the band has taken the music in a different direction.
“The noisiest thing from Barnsley since the coal industry. Just less smokey and with more synthesizer.” – Toronto Blessings FB
Toronto Blessings is Rik Whitehead on vocals and bass, Dale Evans on guitar, synth, and vocals, and Richard Murray on drums. They’re loud, they’re punky, and I like what I hear.

A: Ohh, that’s a tough one. I’ll cheat a little bit and say The Best Of’ The Cure! That would be lovely yeah?

A: Full on! We crank it up live! It’s pure volume and we give everything we have to these songs. You will not be disappointed, but you might be deaf.
Q: Is there a band or artist you think people should be paying more attention to?
A: Viagra Boys! Don’t let the name put you off! These chaps are the real deal. It’s pure filth, sleazy disco-punk! Go check them out live as soon as you can in the smaller venues before they explode.

A: Dale our guitarist’s middle name is Zoro, maybe.
Q: Is there anything else you want to share with our readers?
