Basic White – Brigade Video Release + 5 Quick Questions
It’s been a good year for London’s Basic White.
The band is Riley White, the founder and guitarist/songwriter, guitarist Sandro Di Stefano and drummer Jordan Wallace. The band’s sound is Canadian indie rock with very modern fresh touches.
Music City’s Basic White is back with a new release from their 2019 album, The Second Half. Brigade (Radio Edit) was released on streaming platforms on March 20th, and on July 23rd, they released the official video for Brigade. It marks the second and final single from The Second Half.
“After the release of the album and thanks to a combination of social media, great press, and radio and video play we started selling out our own headlining shows, which we had never done before, said White. We also played with some amazing Canadian artists, including Danko Jones, Tokyo Police Club, and Alan Doyle. We weren’t getting those sorts of shows before the record came out.” – Riley White
It’s a powerful rock anthem underlining the importance of building a solid support system around yourself to help you reach your dreams and get through the tough times. The visual is sometimes tough to watch, at times it’s graphically violent, but it lays out the story perfectly.

The video delivers a captivating concept, with the story taking place in the same setting as the performance. It works.
“The music video for Brigade was shot at a big mansion on the outskirts of London, so it’s a real visual treat. The song and the video are somewhat purposely a big contrast to each other. The song is about starting the band, whereas the video is more about a toxic relationship where you’re at war with each other,” White said.

I had the idea for Brigade way back, and it’s pretty much about the early days and starting the band, starting your own team where you don’t have to rely on anybody else kind of deal. It’s definitely a pretty up-tempo song. I find that this song more than any of the other songs had a real Arkells kind of radio-friendly vibe to it. But it’s super anthemic, and it’s a good dancer for sure.” – Riley White
