5 Reasons to Listen to Music All the Time at Home

Music At Home

We love music, you love music, but even though we acknowledge that, some times we all take music for granted a little bit and fail to understand just how important music can and should be to our day-to-day lives.

Today we’re taking a look at ordinary days at home and the reasons you should be listening to music at home all the time!

Have a look at the list and the explanations and ideas – and then hit play on your favourite record or CD or playlist or radio station and enjoy.

5 Reasons to Listen to Music All the Time at Home

1. Dramatic increase in random dance party potential.

The chances that you’re going to dance if there’s no music playing are really, really low. BUT, if you’ve got music pumping out through the speakers, those chances increase dramatically.

If you love a pop beat that makes you smile and gets your feet moving, put it on (from any era) and if you want to dance, then dance!

If you love hip-hop and beats and moving along with that, then put it on starting with the mid-80s classics and all the way through to the current hits and underground favorites that you love.

And if you’ve got kids – you know that a children’s movie soundtrack can start a dance party instantly.

Don’t deny yourself the gift of dance parties!

2. Background noise to help you get through chores, work, play, etc.

This goes along a little with the next point, but it deserves to be talked about on its own as well. Having music play in the background while you go through the parts of your day at home is a MUST.

If you work at home, you know that the quiet can be great if you really need to concentrate on something, but there’s no denying that time can move really slowly and it can get boring and music can help with that. Put on an album that you love and let that music play while you bang out your assignments.

If you’ve got dishes to wash, a bathroom to clean, floors to mop – any other chores to do, put on a speaker or some headphones and at least you can enjoy the music while you do those un-fun parts of your day-to-day life.

And if you’re enjoying your downtime, playing board games, at the Lucky Days Casino, doing a crossword puzzle, playing Captain Spin, or even just sitting down to relax, we highly recommend putting a great playlist on and adding another layer of entertainment to your experience. Enjoy!

3. Score/soundtrack your life like a movie.

Okay, so this sounds kind of dramatic, but stick with us here. Think about your favourite movies and shows – there’s music there in the background as things happen and folks live their lives in moments big and small, and you can have that too.

If you’re feeling a low key day, put on something that matches your mood and let it play while you live your life. If you’re going through some stuff and you need a little more energy or emotion or aggression, find an album or playlist that gives you all of that and have at it.

Movies and TV without a soundtrack or score aren’t finished – and your life without music isn’t finished either.

4. Put you to rest or sleep peacefully.

Whether you’re doing yoga, resting, meditating, or getting ready to go to sleep, the right music can be a great addition.

Maybe you want a folk album to play in the background, maybe you have a favorite piece of instrumental music that puts you in the right headspace, maybe you love country ballads and have a playlist ready to go. No matter which genre you choose, adding music to your rest and relaxation routine is a wonderful idea.

5. Give yourself more chances to discover new music

Maybe you’ve had the same favorite band or album since you were 15 years old, that’s great, play it again for the 10,000th time and sing and dance and enjoy. But, if you’re not giving new music a chance, you’re missing out on the chance to enjoy a lot more art.

There are a lot of ways to discover new music – but you can’t do any of it unless the music is playing. So, turn on the radio, put on a new release playlist, read New Music Spotlight blog posts, ask friends for recommendations, and then dig in. You might just find something you like.

Here’s another tip too, if you want to focus your search, go to your favourite streaming service and look for the “fans also like” or “similar artists” sections and find an artist that can give you the same kind of sound and vibe as the music you already love!
