The Tragically Hip Top 10 – By The Numbers
The Tragically Hip are one of the most celebrated bands in Canadian music history. They are chart-toppers, award-winners, Canadian Music Hall of Fame members, and fan favourites. They live on in songs and stories and memories after the passing of frontman Gord Downie, and today we’ve done the math the share The Tragically Hip’s Top 10.
Gord Downie was a poet, a performer, a protester, and a proud Canadian who knew we had a lot of work to do to become a better country. His legacy lives on in the songs on this list and many many many others. With his brothers in the band, The Tragically Hip created something special and lasting and we’re thankful for it. All of it.
To put this Top 10 list together we took the 10 songs listed in the popular section on Spotify and added their streams to combined YouTube streams from audio clips and official music videos. For songs that didn’t have official videos, we used one high view fan-made video where available. Live versions were not included because there are so many that the math becomes messy.
We hope that this list includes some of your favourite songs from The Hip – but if it doesn’t, or your very favourite song from the band didn’t make it – leave a comment telling us so we can listen and love and reminisce too.
Enjoy!
