Saying Goodbye to 2021

Well, friends, 2021 has come and gone. It’s over. We did it. And now we’re on to 2022.

But, before we start the new year, we want to look back and give some thanks and credit to the people who helped make this year as good as possible.

Note: Before we get to our thanks, we want to say a little something to you. 2021 was hard for us as it was for you. It was hard to keep up, keep writing, keep covering the music we love and admire. We weren’t able to do what we love with the same passion and effort, and time commitment that we’ve tried to do in the past. And we apologize to anyone, artists, their teams, and fans who missed the posts and reviews and music that we wish we could have shared. We are looking to 2022 as a fresh year, and we will try to get back to where we were. Thank you for sticking with us.

Firstly, to the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, volunteers, and everyone who gave their time and effort and care to keep all of us as safe and healthy as possible, to get us vaccinated, to keep us moving, we thank you. And while we know, we will never be able to thank you enough. We are very grateful for everything you have done and continue to do.

In music, 2021 gave us new releases, new versions of old favourites, and it did what it always does by giving us something to help us feel or distract ourselves from our feelings, or remember good times and bad, and happy and sad, with magic and storytelling and wonder.

Every artist that released new music in 2021 deserves a lot of credit. Any artist who kept pushing, writing, singing, and performing through the obstacles that blocked their path deserve to be heard and appreciated. We appreciate you. Thank you for the music.

We also need to thank the people behind the scenes. Labels and publicists and agents and radio crews, you have all done your best to keep the wheels turning and to keep the music playing to keep the magic alive. To help the artists and the fans connect with themselves and each other and put us in a place where we can try and pick up where we left off when the time is right, and we’re all safe. Thank you.

To the music venues who have provided stages and sound end memories for fans but have not been able to do what they love and what we love them for, thank you for your patience and effort, planning, and persistence. To every owner, bartender, and crew member, we see you, appreciate you, and miss you. And we can’t wait to be in a packed room of sweaty people while you do what you do best and the artists on stage do what they do best, and everyone has a great time. We love you. Thank you.

And lastly, to the fans. To everyone that bought tickets to shows they may or may not have seen, to everyone that bought t-shirts and albums and shared new favourites with their friends, who supported artists whenever and however they could, thank you. Without fans, there’s no music industry. The artists know that, and we know that, and you know that, so we thank you for continuing to show your support, for discovering new artists, for being patient and kind and understanding while everyone tries to navigate this terrible timeline. Thank you for reading our posts, for being interested in the artists we’ve covered, discovering new music with us, and helping us feel like what we do still matters even in times like these. Thank you.

We hope that 2022 brings us all more joy and happiness and music. We hope you all stay healthy and safe while listening to the music you love.

From us to you,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
