2021 Calgary Stampede – Stampede Summer Stage Lineup & Schedule!

Live music is coming to Calgary at the 2021 Stampede in a big way. After announcing the Nashville North schedule, the festival has now added the Stampede Summer Stage lineup and schedule with some great names hitting the stage between July 8 and 18, 2021.

For 11 days in a row, there will be real live music playing for the crowd. It’s been a while since we could say a thing like that, but here we are.

Note: If you are headed to the 2021 Calgary Stampede 2021, please be smart, safe and kind. We are all looking forward to the things we love coming back and life feeling normal again, but we’re not all the way there yet. Thank you.

When you look at the Summer Stage lineup and schedule you’ll see days that start in the afternoon, but mostly evening and nighttime shows. There are some legendary names, some up and comers, some indie sweethearts and a lot of award winners. But mostly, there are quality Canadian entertainers coming to do what they do best and give the Calgary crowd something to sing along to, dance to, and cheer about.

Entry to the shows is included with Calgary Stampede admission, so if you’re going to the fair, we suggest sticking around for the music and taking full advantage.

If you’re ready for live music, and you’re ready for the crowds, the Stampede Summer Stage will be ready for you from July 8 to 18, 2021 at the Calgary Stampede!

2020 CBC Music Festival Makes First Lineup Announcement

CBC Music Festival will return to Echo Beach on May 30 with headliners Metric leading the way.

The one-day music festival will include the q stage, CBC Music Tent Stage, and the CBC Kids Zone to go along with the main stage. It’s a setup that allows for multiple acts to be featured throughout the day, and for music fans at the beach to find something they love.

So far, 11 acts have been announced, including Metric, Half Moon Run, Lights, Jeremy Dutcher, and 2020 CBC Searchlight winner (announced Thursday morning), Shawnee. The festival also promises to add more acts, with announcements to come between now and May 30.

One of our favourite things about CBC Music Festival (aside from the fact that live music is wonderful) is the spotlight it shines on Canadian talent. Already in the lineup, we have Juno Awards, Polaris Prize, Western Canada Music Awards, Astral Media Radio Awards, Much Music Video Awards, the CBC Searchlight Contest and more represented. We have multiple genres and fanbases included. It’s a lineup (so far) that already tells us that this is about getting talented artists on stage to do what they do best, not simply a formula that tries to tick boxes.

We like that.

Tickets for 2020’s CBC Music Festival are on pre-sale now (Thursday, March 5, 2020) with code: CBC2020. CLICK HERE for pre-sale.

And tickets go on full public sale starting Friday, March 6, 2020, at 10 AM. General Admission passes will be listed for $39.50 plus fees + taxes ($57.75 total) with children 12 and under free to enter with an adult – maximum two children per adult. CLICK HERE to learn more and get tickets starting Friday morning.

Doors for CBC Music Festival are scheduled to open at 1:30 PM, music is set to start at 2:00 PM, and the entire shebang is booked as rain or shine!

AND, if you can’t get to the festival, the fest will be live streamed on CBC Gem, cbcmusic.ca, and CBC Music’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts. It’s a very cool thing that CBC does, and gives fans across Canada a chance to enjoy the music from RBC Echo Beach in Toronto.

Check out the list of artists announced for CBC Music Festival so far – and stay tuned because there are more to come, and they should be great too.

ZHU Brings The Dune to Toronto

Electronic dance music artist and singer ZHU brought the “Dune” to Toronto on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018. The once anonymous DJ who made everyone a fan of deep house brought deep dark western vibes you never thought you’d find at Rebel Nightclub.

The night kicked off with a stellar opening performance from TokiMonsta. Her set was compiled of hip hop and songs from her recent album Lune Rouge. The bass-heavy DJ had everyone grooving. And, by the end of her set, TokiMonsta had everyone warmed up and anticipating the performance of the headliner.

As more and more guests arrived, they poured onto the dance floor trying to get the best spot possible.

The stage was complete darkness, only the silhouette of a tall pyramid had everyone excited. Sounds of twanging guitars began, and windy dirt roads filled the room. Everyone’s hands went up as fans pulled out their phones in hopes of getting an Insta worthy snap. Then, behind the pyramid light, up in a haze, a man in the Cowboy hat raised his hands, and the crowd screamed his name.

The crowd went wild, the room broke out into excitement, and everyone was feeling the music. His performance is like no other DJ I have seen. ZHU sang every vocal and had a live band with instruments, an electric saxophone player to his right, and an electric guitar player to his left, to fill the stage. What more can you ask for?

The overall production of the show was next level artistic and very well thought out. The visuals and sounds placed everyone right in the centre of the dune and made it an exciting experience you don’t want to miss when you have the chance.

Frank Turner, Sam Coffey, and Bad Cop / Bad Cop Takeover Toronto!

Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls played the middle show of a three-night takeover of The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on Thursday night, and things got hot!

With tourmates, Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs and Bad Cop / Bad Cop, the English singer-songwriter put smiles on a lot of GTA faces and promised another night of the same with their energy, excellence and a little surprise at the end.

While summer may have now come to a close, the good times have not. It was full, hot, sweaty, and awesome in the building. There was an energy in the crowd that only comes from love and anticipation. It’s part of what makes being at live concerts special. And if Frank Turner’s performance in Toronto at The Phoenix is an indication of what the transition from summer to fall 2018 is going to be like in the music scene, we’re into it.

The show started with four kick-ass punk rock women. Because why the hell not?!

Bad Cop / Bad Cop is all-in everything when they hit the stage. And from their interview with Trish earlier in the day, we knew that they were ready to give their all on Thursday night. Stacey Dee – Vocals/Guitar & Jennie Cotterill – Vocals/Guitar & Myra Gallarza – Drums & Linh Le – Bass/Vocals come together to be something more than just four musicians on stage together. They’re a unit, they’re connected, they’re really freakin’ good.

Trish describes the band’s music as punky with pop influences but that it rocks hard. On Thursday night at The Phoenix, Bad Cop / Bad Cop proved her right when they rocked and got a big night started.

Local rock legends and heroes, Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs took the second slot on the night – and were perfect in the middle. With theatrics, powerful energy, songs that the crowd loved, and a little dash of home cooking, there was really nothing more to ask for.

There’s a reason they’re sometimes referred to as the “Princes of the Underground”. They showed that at The Phoenix. I mean, you can see it in the photos as they pull off big time rock poses, hit all their marks and generally host a rock and roll party while they rip through their set.

And with Sam himself dressed as Evil Elvis, things were just a more amped up than anyone may have expected or hoped for.

Toronto and Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs had a moment on Thursday night in the middle of the three-night run. Don’t miss them when they’re home next!

In the headline/ main event/ “reason everyone was in the building” spot at the end of the show was Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls. And they owned it.

Turner keeps count of his live dates, and on Thursday night he played show 2239. And just like they were for shows 2238 and 2240, Toronto was ready for him, and he was ready for Toronto.

With his latest release Be More Kind at the centre of the tour, Turner played a 24-song set on Thursday night. And he saved a little surprise for last.

When it came time for the last song of the night, Max Kerman, the outstanding frontman of Hamilton rockers Arkells, came to the stage and sang Four Simple Words with the band. He also danced and played with Frank Turner, showing just how much these two dudes like each other after their time on tour in the past.

Frank Turner has built himself a loyal and loving fanbase over more than a decade of albums and more than 2000 live shows. They showed just how much they loved him at The Phoenix. And we’re sure he felt it.

And we know they had a good time. We saw it.
