Phantoms – Marianas Trench at FirstOntario Concert Hall in Hamilton

Canada’s own Marianas Trench rolled into Hamilton’s FirstOntario Concert Hall on tour Tuesday night supporting their new album Phantoms. A packed house greeted the band as they came out on stage through the fog.

Right from the start of the show, singer Josh Ramsay had the crowd’s full attention. Anyone who knows the Vancouver band knows that their live show is a theatrical performance and this tour is no different.

The show was opened by Elijah Wood x Jamie Fine. The multi-platinum selling duo that made their splash on the scene with Ain’t Easy and recently released their debut EP, 8:47.

With a diverse catalogue from brand new songs to classic hits and even happy birthday, the band had the crowd singing every word. Guitarist Matt Webb even celebrated his birthday on stage with a shot of Jack Daniels and some birthday cake. What a special moment to hear all the fans wish him a happy birthday.

As the night was coming to an end, Josh Ramsay took to the stage by himself and performed an acoustic version of One Love before being joined by the rest of the band for two more songs before they said good night.

The tour continues on Friday night in St. Catharines, Saturday night in Ottawa, then Montreal and more. Be sure to check out the incredibly talented guys in Marianas Trench one night this week. It’s not a show you want to miss.

Editor’s Note: We were at the Toronto show as well, and both Marianas Trench and openers, Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine were fantastic. The crowd was loud, singing along with both bands, and we agree, this is a show you don’t want to miss when you have a chance.

One OK Rock Light Up Toronto’s Rebel with Stand Atlantic and Waterparks

Japan’s One OK Rock tore the roof off Toronto’s Rebel Thursday night, and the high energy stadium rock show kept the crowd rocking out the entire night. One of Japan’s largest bands took to the small stage with style. The band plays to sold-out stadiums back in Japan, and they brought that same energy out with them here.

The night started off with Stand Atlantic getting the crowd energized and excited. The Australian band is fresh of a tour with Neck Deep, and it shows. Their stage presence was outstanding. It was hard not to move around with them.

The Texas band Waterparks took to the stage after and blew everyone away. Right from the first song, the crowd was going insane. They definitely gained a few new fans!

Then it was time for One OK Rock, and wow. The energy in the room was electric. A sold out Rebel sang every single word right back to frontman Takahiro Moriuchi. As the night went on the crowd got even more into it, their voices got louder, and they moved around with every song. Chanting and screaming at every possible chance. You could tell One Ok Rock knows how to put on a show.

It’s hard to understand how One OK Rock isn’t selling out stadiums here like they do back home, but I’m sure they will get to that point. With the talent they have, it won’t be too long. The tour heads up to Montreal next, but be sure to catch One Ok Rock the next time they come through town.

You can find me at their next show!

Silverstein Live at the Opera House, Toronto

Silverstein rolled into a hometown Toronto show Saturday night at The Opera House and was greeted by a sold-out crowd eagerly waiting to scream back every single word.

The two set show (and encore) brings an end to a busy 2018 year for Silverstein. Not only was the tour a double set, but it was also an anniversary tour. The fans were treated to a start-to-finish playthrough of the band’s debut album When Broken Is Easily Fixed, which is celebrating its 15th birthday, followed by their greatest hits. This made for one special night.

Any fan of Silverstein knows to expect an energy-packed performance, and they were not disappointed on Saturday night. The band came out with a killer light show and loads of energy, and the crowd could see that. No matter what song they played, the band was drowned out by the sound of hundreds of people singing every single word along with them.

As the band switched to playing their greatest hits, you could feel the energy in the room change. Everybody in the building was on their feet, crowd surfers were flying and the mosh pit was in full force. These are the songs that mean everything to these fans. This is why they are here. You could look around and see everyone smiling, dancing, jumping around, and singing along even louder than before. As if that was even possible. From Smashed Into Pieces to Smile in your Sleep and Aquamarine, the boys in Silverstein really know how to put on a show.

In response to the overwhelming demand for tickets, they have added a second show Sunday night, which also sold out. Not bad for a couple of guys from the 905. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for more from Silverstein, they aren’t done yet.
