My Love on International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day!

I know as a dude I will probably miss the point to a lot of things that are being celebrated and pushed for today – but I wanted to take the opportunity to say my thank yous and give high fives.

There are some pretty friggin’ awesome women in the world – in my world – who make it a better place. They are smart, strong and caring – full of love, faith and talent – and most important/lucky for me – they are patient, forgiving and understanding.

This morning I tweeted some big ups to my mom. She’s not on Twitter (which I’m totally okay with) but I was happy to give her a shout out. She deserves it. All of those adjectives I used to describe the women I am lucky enough to know can be used to describe my mother. Cheryl is pretty much the bees knees.

Side note: I just took a break from writing this to call and leave a message to wish her a happy Women’s Day and Pancake Tuesday.

I am also lucky to have some awesome women in my life in the friend and role model and mentor veins. Their names are too many to mention – although many of them have been mentioned here before and you can see me tweeting with them and crushing on them to varying degrees on Twitter all the time.

They tell me to keep my chin up, they give me high fives and hugs. They show strength in the face of adversity. They offer much needed and appreciated advice. They can sing, write, dance, drink, play Scrabble, bake, laugh, teach and do.

The women in my life are amazing and deserve to be celebrated! The ones in your life do too. Don’t ever forget that.

Also, don’t forget that they deserve to know how much you appreciate them more often than once a year. The amazing women in our lives are here for us every day. We should be here shouting their praises from the rooftops every day as well.

So, this my thank you – not only because it is International Women’s Day, but also because I owe many thanks and feel very lucky.

My only request to the women, mothers, sisters, aunts, grand-mothers, daughters, friends of the world is this -> please keep doing what you’re doing no matter what anyone says. And if there is ever anything that I can do to help, call me and I will be there.

I promise.

Thank you.

With love,

-Joshua
