NFL Wild Card Weekend – Picking Playoff Winners!

Hey kids,

The NFL playoffs are finally here. And while I am crestfallen and heart broken that Tony Romo and the Cowboys aren’t involved, I am still going to watch and try to help you predict the eventual Super Bowl winner.

We’re to a point now where there’s no need to spreadsheets. We can look at the 4 Wild Card games and pick 4 winners…

The toughest game to make a decision on is definitely the Steelers vs Broncos in Denver. It’s Big Ben vs Tim Tebow. It’s experience vs the divine. It’s a lot of things. But it’s not an easy game to pick with all of the injuries on the Steelers side and all of the reasons not to pick the Broncos. Ugh.

Game 1:
Saturday 4:30pm
Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans
Pick: Cincinnati Bengals
The Texans D looks good. But TJ Yates is hurt and is going to try to start the game. If he starts slow and then gets knocked around and pulled I can see Andy Dalton and the Bengals stealing this game on the road.

Game 2:
Saturday 8:00pm
Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints
Pick: New Orleans Saints
It would be a great story if the Lions were able to push forward in these playoffs and give the Super Bowl a chance. But I don’t see them getting past the Saints. They have been so good in the last 6 weeks and are racking up yards and points at an amazing rate. This one is a lock. Who Dat?!

Game 3:
Sunday 1:00pm
Atlanta Falcons at New York Giants
Pick: New York Giants
I hate the Giants. I hate Eli Manning. I hate that they beat the Cowboys last week and knocked us out of the playoffs. But I do not trust the Falcons to win a big football game on the road. Their team is not as good as it was last season. And the Giants are rolling. Balls.

Game 4:
Sunday 4:30pm
Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos
Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are beat up… bad. But the experience and determination of this veteran team should be enough to beat Tim Tebow and his awful receivers. I know that a lot of people will feel very strongly one way or another when it comes to this game. Tebow is one of the most polarizing figures in all of sports right now. But please know that this isn’t me cheering against him, this is me picking the better team.

There you have it. My expert picks for Wild Card Weekend. Here’s hoping I’m right and you are too!

Good luck. Be Awesome.
