Breaking News: Harry Caray Rolls Over In Grave!

So yesterday I started seeing tweets and links and updates flying around the internet talking about MLB 12 The Show and their new ad and the Chicago Cubs. I was curious, but I didn’t watch the video on YouTube until I saw Jose Bautista tweet it in the afternoon…

Since then I’ve watched it at least 7 times.

The marketing team at PlayStation hit a home run on this one. A grand slam even.

It is emotional and amazing and makes you wonder “what if” and “could it be”. And then you stop wondering and start thinking.

I think about it and I wonder how the people of Chicago feel. They’ve been waiting over 100 years for a World Series title and instead of the real thing they get a 62 second commercial.

I can’t imagine what that emotion would be like for them because I remember the Blue Jays championships (especially 1993) and how great it felt… but I hadn’t been waiting like this. Not with perennial agony.

Note: Happy Birthday to Joe Carter!

I think the best thing to do would be ask Toronto Maple Leafs fans how they would feel if it was a hockey video game commercial and their team was the subject.

If you haven’t seen the video, here it is. It is amazing. And a little heart breaking…
