Toronto Rock(s) on Friday Night at the ACC!

So Friday night, for the 1st time in 10 years, I hit up the ACC to see the Toronto Rock take the floor in an NLL game.

As a Toronto sports fan it’s a little crazy that it took me this long to get back to the arena. But, life happens and priorities get set and etc., etc., etc.

After watching the game with Trish in the 3rd row of the Platinum Club (thank you Ford Canada) I can tell you that I doubt I’ll be waiting another 10 years to go back.

Professional indoor Lacrosse is fast, rough, exciting, hard, strong… all of the things you look for in a Friday night in Toronto. Truthfully though, this game had big hits, fast action, few whistles, lots of goals and a ton of passion and intensity. The fans who were in the arena with us (my guess is about 10,000) were totally into the game. They chanted, clapped, cheered, stomped, stood and begged for a comeback against the Philadelphia Wings who have immediately become my least favourite team in the league.

Note: It was Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night at the ACC and everyone was awesome in cheering for the men and women that represent our country all over the world.

When I went in 2002 we were lucky enough to sit in the GTAA luxury box and watch the game from above. I remember only 3 things from that Sunday afternoon. 1) Some dude 2 handed a ref and only got a 2 minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. 2) Another dude took a swing at a guy in a suit on the bench and didn’t get any penalty. 3) Toronto won.

This time I didn’t see anyone shove a referee or fight the bench and we didn’t see Toronto win (although they made it close at the end) but I still had a hella good time and would go back in a heart beat.

Note: Big ups to the Rock’s in game hostess Shannon who killed it and even got to intro an in game proposal.

As a huge bonus, tickets are cheap! They start at less than $15 and would make a pretty cool group outing. I’m just saying.

If you’re a sports fan and want a good time, hit up and NLL game. You will cheer and smile and yell and if you’re like me you’ll be begging for someone to punch someone else in the face by the time the 3rd quarter rolls around.

Have fun!
