Mom Always Did Know Best – Happy Mother’s Day

A long time ago I wrote a lot of poetry. Most of it was really bad. In fact, most of it was pretty bad. But one of the coolest pieces I ever wrote was a terrible acrostic poem for my mom.

And because it’s Mother’s Day I rewrote it with motherly type words of advice and encouragement and positivity that make me think of her and all of the other great moms in my life.

My mom is awesome.

I hope she knows that.

If your mom (and all of the mothers in your life) are awesome remember to tell them! This is their world, we’re just living in it.

MOM ALWAYS DID KNOW BEST

Make it work with what you’ve got.
Open your ears and shut your mouth.
Mean what you say.

Amen.
Live, laugh & love.
Walk in the light.
Attack life.
You are worthy.
Someday you’ll understand.

Don’t ask the question if you don’t want to know the answer.
I believe in you.
Dig up stupid.

Keep learning.
Never ever say never.
Open your heart to love.
What made you think that would be okay?

Be yourself, it’s pretty great.
Eat your vegetables.
Say it like you mean it.
Try your best, that’s all you can do.
