Movember Journal 2013: #MoChaKaTO is Coming!

It’s coming!

And I’m excited!

Thursday, November 28, 2013.

9pm to 2am.

The Moustache Growers Union Local 416647 presents, Movember Challenge Karaoke Toronto is coming back for a 4th year to raise money for our team and the Movember cause! That’s right, the 4th year!

It’s all a little crazy in my mind really. In 2010 we were at Tequila Sunrise, in 2011 we were at Grindhouse Burger Bar, in 2012 we were at Lou Dawg’s on King West and in 2013 we will be at the Winchester Kitchen and Bar at 51 Winchester St.

And while we’ve had a new venue every year, we have not lost any momentum. In fact, year after year we have had more success and raised more money. Last year we raised $1680 in donations through raffle tickets, challenges, rotation “fees” and other gifts. It was amazing. We all had a great time and we can’t wait to do it again.

If you’re planning on joining us but haven’t made it out to a previous edition of #MoChaKaTO let’s take a second to break down how it works:

☞ For $5, you get your name in the rotation to be able to sing
☞ For $20, when your friend gets up for their turn, you can challenge them and make them sing whatever you want
☞ For $30, you can buy yourself out if you get challenged (just in case the challenge is too horrific for you, or you’re a big ol’ chicken!)
☞ For $50, you can sing a song off the host’s list of banned songs
☞ For $100, you can sing a song by Celine Dion. Someone has stepped up to the plate each year for this — maybe this year we’ll get two? Is it possible to hear too much Celine?

It’s that easy. It’s that simple. It’s that straightforward!

If you’re not a singer, you don’t have to sing. Nobody can make you. We’d still be super happy to have you as a cheerleader and raffle ticket buyer!

Heck. We’re even planning to crown a Mr. and Miss Movember at #MoChaKaTO 2013 – it could be you!

We hope to see all of the familiar faces that we’re used to AND new faces and moustaches at the Winchester on Thursday, Movember 28th.

This is one of my favourite nights of the whole year. And I can’t wait to share it with all of you.

Thank you to everyone who has made it out to any and all of our 3 previous fundraising nights. I think it’s safe to say that everyone involved feels the exact same way.

Also, this is your 1 week countdown notice to the start of Movember 2013. Prepare yourself for the moustaches that you will be seeing. And remember: Please don’t judge us, we’re all trying our best!
