Bestival Toronto Adds BANKS to the Lineup

Yesterday’s Bestival Toronto lineup announcement included L.A. R&B singer BANKS. Her debut album Goddess, released in September of 2014 charted in the top 20 in the UK, Australia, Germany, New Zealand and Sweden. In the US she debuted at number 12, selling 25,000 copies in the first week.

BANKS Bestival

If you’re a fan of Grey’s Anatomy you might have heard her tracks “Waiting Game” and “You Should Know Where I’m Coming From”, in the October 9th, 2014 episode. The track “Goddess” was included in the March 12, 2015 episode. Looks like Grey’s Anatomy knows how to set the mood of an episode.

Bestival curator ROB DA BANK first heard BANKS at a London show where she performed in a disused ballroom for music industry professionals and he’s been a fan ever since. She’s been compared to The Weeknd and Aaliyah but cites her influences as Fiona Apple and Lauryn Hill.

While we still don’t have a lineup by day, we do know that BANKS will be joining an already exciting lineup including headliners NAS and Florence + The Machine. If you haven’t heard her, check out her soundcloud – banksbanksbanks
