5 Female Acts We’re Excited To See At CMW 2015

It’s CMWĀ time again. The time when Toronto fills up with musicians from everywhere! This is the time of year we line up for bands we know and love, and if we’re lucky, we come across something new and intoxicating. So who’s at the top of our list for this year?

Leah Daniels

Leah DanielsYep, number one on our list.Ā We love this lady’s music and we’ll be making sure we’reĀ at Boots and Bourbon on May 7th. We’ll be front and centre when Leah hits the stage at 9:00pm. Nominated for multiple Country Music Association of Ontario Awards, Leah is going places and we’reĀ happy to have been early supporters.

Her song “Go Back” is just one reason to check out this very talented singer songwriter. If you haven’tĀ seen the video yet, you should go check it out. Dark, sultry and a little haunting.

Runaway Angel

Runaway Angel Also up for multiple Country Music Association of Ontario Awards in May, these ladies harmonize like nobody’s business. They’ve spent some time in Nashville recently and they’ve never sounded better. Originally all solo artists, these threeĀ are thick as thieves and their unique sound will get into your head.

They’ll be on stage at Revival May 6th at 10:00pm performing their version of country music. They’ve got a new video out, we love it, and you can see it here.

Kira Isabella

Kira Isabella 2014 CNEThis little lady will blow you away with the power of her voice. She’ll be appearing at Boots and Bourbon, Friday May 8th at Midnight. This venue might look familiar, it’s the location of her video shoot for “Shake It If Ya Got It“. Kira’s also nominated for a Country Music Association of Ontario Award this year and we think she’s got a very good chance of winning this one.

Kira will win you over with her country rock sound. The singer/songwriter moves smoothly between party tracks to her quieter songs with lyrics about love and social issues.

Meghan Patrick

Meghan Patrick GuitarOf all the songs we’ve heard, our favourite is “The Toque Sessions“, Meghan stripped down and at her best. Her voice is instantly recognizable, her lyrics are compelling and relatable. This year will beĀ Ā a big oneĀ for Meghan. Get in on the ground floor, and then, stand back and watch. Meghan has also been down in Nashville recently working with some new people and writing up a storm.

Meghan’s playing The Supermarket, Wednesday May 6th at 8:00PM. We promise, you won’t regret choosing this show.

Jill Beth

Jill Beth

We’ve not heard Jill in person but we like the tone of her voice.Ā We’re adding this Australian performer to our “5 Bands We’re Excited To See” list. If it’s Alternative Country Pop you’re looking for, Jill is the lady for the job.

She’s been all over the award nominations at home and she’s clearly putting in the hard work. I’m giving her a chance this week at CMW.

Did we miss someone you think should be on the list?Ā Ā Tell us who and why? Please comment below.
