KC and the Sunshine Band Live at Toronto Jazz Fest 2016
It’s not every day you get to see a legend up on stage… but Friday night, at the opening of the Toronto Jazz Fest we saw KC and the Sunshine Band, and that’s legendary.
Under the Jazz Fest tent at Nathan Phillips Square was a crowd ready for a good time. They were young and old and they danced and sang and waved their hands and did everything asked of them. And all of that energy was given right back to them from the stage. There were 14 people on stage making some sort of vintage magic happen. There were dancers and a horn section and bongos and multiple keyboards… and so much dancing.
Note: If I can dance and move the way Harry Wayne “KC” Casey does when I’m 65 years old, I’ll call that a win.
The set was full of classics, with super fun performances of (Shake Shake Shake) Shake Your Booty, Boogie Shoes, Please Don’t Go, Give It Up, I’m Your Boogie Man, That’s The Way I Like It, Get Down Tonight – and it was a great start to the 2016 Toronto Jazz Fest.
Since 1973 KC and the Sunshine Band have been doing their thing… and in 2016 in Toronto they showed that they still know how to get it done!
Stay tuned for more from the Toronto Jazz Fest coming soon!
