CMT Music Fest 2016: Tom Cochrane on the Main Stage!

In 2016 we’ve been told to see all of our favourite artists, just in case…

At CMT Music Fest 2016 we got to see one of our favourites when Tom Cochrane and Red Rider hit the main stage on Saturday right before Zac Brown Band closed out the weekend festival.

Cochrane is more than 40 years deep into his musical career, but at 63 years of age he showed no sign of slowing down as he rocked through many of his biggest hits – leading the assembled festival crowd through their own memories and connections to the songs we all love so very much. It was especially fantastic to see Cochrane on stage with Red Rider, just a little added bonus to something that was already special.

Note: As Cochrane and the band hit The Untouchable One with their third song I wrote this in my notes… “I feel like I’ve been waiting for 20 years for this and didn’t know how badly until right now.”

CMT Music Fest - Tom Cochrane

From the start of the set Tom Cochrane and Red Rider had us all reeled in. Boy Inside The Man and Sinking Like A Sunset were perfect choices to start – White Hot, No Regrets, and Big League were all amazing as the set continued – and Life Is A Highway was the perfect choice to end it all.

Early on Cochrane told us that it had been in a long time since they had played the Kitchener/Waterloo area, but they did a great job of making up for it at CMT Music Fest. There is no doubt about that.

Check out the rest of the photos from Tom Cochrane and Red Rider’s set – and find a show near you to catch them soon!
