1, 2, 3, 4: Alan Doyle & The Beautiful Gypsies at Boots & Hearts 2016!

Sometimes all you really need is a party, and if you’re ever looking for someone to host or inspire or attend your party, we would highly recommend Alan Doyle!

The Canadian legend, and proud Newfoundlander, burst onto the Boots & Hearts main stage with The Beautiful Gypsies on Saturday afternoon and had the joint jumping. The infectious energy and love from the stage spread through the fans (both sitting and standing) and had smiles growing all over the field.

As Doyle and the band took the stage to start the set, he looked out into the crowd, grabbed his microphone and said six words that set the tone for the next hour… “Let’s get a kitchen party going.”

Note: Seeing Alan Doyle up on stage and hearing him sing When I’m Up (I Can’t Get Down) and Ordinary Day was super nostalgic for me. One of my first concerts ever was Great Big Sea in Peterborough, ON in the mid 90s. It was great to remember that while enjoying Saturday’s show.

When Alan started playing When I’m Up (I Can’t Get Down) there was a roar through the crowd. As the music played and the song grew, the fans got louder and more excited and sang every word. And the crowd was left to sing by themselves I had a goosebump moment as a few thousand people let go and lived their happiest moments with a song they’ve loved since 1997.

Alan Doyle BH5-4563In the crowd we could see flags representing Newfoundland and Labrador waving proudly and excitedly. The excitement of seeing one of their own up on the big stage at Boots & Hearts giving them a little extra pride – and deservedly so. And the rest of us, the mainlanders, we all had an hour in the sun to let the music pull us in and pretend that we were on the rock, and this was a giant kitchen party, and we were all in this thing together!

I can’t make any promises or guarantees about his availability, but if you ever are looking for someone to have a party with, especially a down home, good time kitchen party… our whole team is recommending Alan Doyle.
