I had the pleasure of photographing Vance Joy three years ago when he was just starting off, playing smaller more intimate shows. After seeing him for the first time I couldn’t wait to see him again. It’s amazing how many dedicated fans he has.  After standing in the pouring rain for hours, I didn’t see one miserable face. I’ve never seen a show where so many strangers came together sharing umbrellas, ponchos and singing his songs together. Vance Joy fans are simply amazing!! It may have been raining and cold, but it didn’t stop anyone from having an awesome night.

It’s always nice hearing the artist explain songs to the crowd, whether it’s about his family, a friend, a loved one or a life lesson, Vance kept our attention from start to finish.

This talented Australian indie folk star stole a lot of hearts last night at Ottawa’s City Folk Fest and I’m sure I can speak on behalf of everyone there, he will be missed!!
