10 Albums We’re Looking Forward To

Do you ever find yourself wishing that some of your favourite artists could just have new music ready already? I do. And while I try to be patient about it, sometimes I can’t help but get a little antsy.

So, here’s a list of 10 artists that I can’t wait to hear from. Some of them have new music coming soon (as per reports and such) and some I’m in more of a cross my fingers and hope kind of situation. But, all of them are on my list of anticipated albums.

Have a look at the list and leave a comment telling us who you can’t wait to release new music!

10 Albums We’re Looking Forward To, In Alphabetical Order

The Beaches

After Late Show blew us away, they hit the road to play shows across Canada and the US, and here we are wanting more music from these four badass women.

And if they’ve got anything nearly as awesome as T-Shirt or Money, I’ll be here singing along and rocking out on release day of album #2.

Cam

I can not tell you how excited I am for Cam to release her new album. On a scale from 1 to 10, I’m off the scale.

I’m also very impressed with the take charge / owning her own career / boss woman attitude that Cam has displayed in postponing her headlining tour and announcing that her album will not be released through Sony Nashville and instead on RCA New York. It’s a change that won’t mean much to music fans who just want to listen and sing along, but it’s amazing to see her making the moves behind the scenes that make her believe things will work out best!

Default

Dallas Smith CNE 2015

Do we know if there’s even going to be a new Default album? No. But we’re here for it if the band gets in the studio and bangs one out!

The new sound on the Re-Cuts album was a blast to listen to, and we’d gladly hear a full album of new rock and roll with Dallas Smith’s voice at the lead.

JJ Shiplett

Boots and Hearts 2017 - JJ Shiplett

With one of the richest, most outstanding voices in Canadian music, JJ Shiplett has me on pins and needles waiting for the follow-up to Something To Believe In.

Part of me really hopes that there’s a breakout radio hit on JJ’s next record. The other part of me doesn’t care, because I know that I’m going to want to dig in deep with the album and listen to it spin whether radio plays it or not.

Joey Landreth

After seeing Joey Landreth in Toronto at The Horseshoe we wrote that Joey Landreth “isn’t a household name in Canadian music. But, he is one of those if you know, you know kind of artists.”. We’ve heard some of the new songs Landreth has been working on with Roman Clarke, and we like them. And if the next album is a Joey Landreth Trio deal to follow-up 2017’s Whiskey, we’re okay with that.

Kendrick Lamar

DAMN won a freaking Nobel Prize. I’m not sure what other reasons I need to give for why I’m excited to hear what Kendrick Lamar releases next.

If you want other reasons, I’d point to his skill, depth of subject matter, influence on culture, and our pure appreciation for what he does.

Note: I know that Lamar was largely responsible for the Black Panther soundtrack, but I mean a real Kendrick Lamar album.

Kira Isabella

Kira Isabella at Boots and Hearts 2018

We don’t have any inside info here, but if Little Girl and Danger, Danger are the start of a new album from Kira Isabella, I’ll be a happy listener.

Her voice is stronger than ever, it truly feels like she’s headed in a specific direction that we want to hear more of, and there is no denying the talent that we’ve been hearing in songs from Kira since I fell in love with A Real Good Radio.

Maren Morris

There’s nothing capable of stopping Maren Morris. She’s a boss. She’s a queen. And when she releases her next album, I’ll be here for it.

Hero is packed with songs that I can gladly listen to on repeat and I have no doubt that her second album will deliver the same kind of addictive tracklist. Hit me Maren. I’m ready!

Midland

During our interview at Boots & Hearts 2018, Mark Wystrach told us that the new Midland album will be coming in March 2019. We say bring it on.

After the breakout success of songs like Drinkin’ Problem, Make A Little, and Burn Out, and the growth of a fanbase that can’t get enough of the country trio’s harmonies, the second album from the band has a lot of excitement attached to it.

Sam Hunt

We’ve been waiting, all of us, for Sam Hunt to release more than just singles since the country world got turned upside down when he dropped Montevallo.

If Downtown’s Dead and Body Like A Back Road are the start of whatever the next album is, we know that fans are ready. And if it’s different (which it could very well be) I’m pretty sure that people are still going to give it a chance (and other people will bitch about it). I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
