Big Sky Music Festival Adds Mason Ramsey, Jason McCoy, and The Redhill Valleys

The Big Sky Music Festival has added three new names to their inaugural 2019 lineup, with Mason Ramsey, Jason McCoy, and The Redhill Valleys all coming to Burl’s Creek Event Grounds this July.

The one-day fest on Saturday, July 20 now includes six country artists, including legendary superstars and headliners, Alabama. But that’s not all. Alongside a day of country music, Big Sky will also feature a vintage car show, craft marketplace, and curated selection of food vendors. It’s a collection of entertainment and attractions that will make for a great day, and also adds to the opportunity to turn the day into a family outing.

EDIT: Unfortunately, headliners and country music legends, Alabama have pulled out of the festival due to health issues. In a release on Thursday, Invictus Entertainment Group said, “co-founder and lead vocalist Randy Owen is suffering from severe vertigo and migraines. Randy is currently under doctor’s care and being treated.”. While it is a disappointment, we hope that Owen’s treatment is successful and quick. In response to the cancellation, Republic Live says, “Despite the news, we look forward to hosting Travis Tritt, Diamond Rio, Mason Ramsey, Jason McCoy, and The Redhill Valleys to an eager group of fans, joining us for a memorable first year!”. They added, “In support of our country music community, we will be honouring ticket holders who had purchased a ticket for the Alabama concert, scheduled for Friday, July 19th at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa. Please arrive with proof of purchase to the box office on-site and direct any questions to contact@burlscreek.com.”

By adding Mason Ramsey, Jason McCoy, and The Redhill Valleys the lineup, the festival has added some Canadian flavour, a viral sensation, and given us a very specific we can’t wait for this to happen moment.

One-day festivals aren’t the norm at this point, with the scene booming and more multi-day festivals looking to make their mark all over the country. But the combination of music and on-site attractions that Big Sky is bringing is a welcome change, and offers a different opportunity for fans of classic cars and classic country music.

Mason Ramsey burst onto the scene as the yodelling boy seen all over the internet. From there he appeared on festival stages, at award shows (we saw him at the 2018 CCMAs, where Shania Twain joined him on stage) and hit the country charts with Famous. At just 12-years-old, Ramsey has his whole life and career in front of him. And we can’t wait to see what he brings to the show this summer.

The Redhill Valleys will make their return to Burl’s Creek in 2019, having twice played at Boots & Hearts. The former Emerging Artist Showcase contestants have been busy over the last few years, playing shows, building their fanbase, and honing their craft. Be ready for harmonies, tight musicianship, and a great start to the day when they get up to play.

We mentioned the we can’t wait for this to happen moment earlier, so we should tell you what it is. When Jason McCoy takes the stage to play his set, he’ll have a long, long list of songs to choose from. Between his solo career, and as a member of The Road Hammers (the best-selling Canadian country group of all-time) there will be no shortage of hits for him to sing and for the crowd to enjoy. However, there is one song that stands out, and we can not wait to hear it.

When Jason McCoy breaks into his 1997 hit, Born Again In Dixieland, we fully expect the Big Sky Music Festival crowd to go wild. It’s a 22-year-old classic that belongs on lists of best Canadian county songs, is a sing-along favourite, has been covered by artists across the country, and has remained part of McCoy’s solo set, and The Road Hammers sets from time-to-time over the years. When he plays it (lock it in), we’ll be ready.

Tickets for Big Sky are available now, with camping and RV options available as well. Early Bird tickets start at just $99, but are running low. Click Here for Big Sky Music Festival ticket info!
