Leaving Thomas – Nothing Comes For Free [Album Review]

Country-pop duo Leaving Thomas is back with new music on their brand new album, Nothing Comes For Free. The Calgary-based pair’s follow-up to their self-titled debut album in early 2018 is fresh and bounces with their personalities, which also shows off their vision for where they want to be with their music.

Annika and Bryton aren’t short on vision, it has never been lacking in the time we’ve known them. And now we’re seeing what they’ve been planning behind-the-scenes.

Fans who embraced songs like Blame It On The Neon, Waiting Kind Of Girl and their summer 2018 single Kiss About It should find their way into the new music without blinking. Yes, there are tweaks and twists, but that’s evolution, and we’re into it.

A week before the album dropped, Leaving Thomas gave us all a taste with the first single release, Choose. If you haven’t heard it yet, here it is…

The duo has always understood the need and importance of reaching out to their fans. The LT Show is always good for a laugh (and we hope new episodes are coming). And in the lead up to Nothing Comes For Free, Leaving Thomas teased fans with clips of songs through social media, getting them excited and ready. It worked.

With energy, enthusiasm, and talent, Leaving Thomas has released 12 songs on an album that feels like it’s the continuation of what they’d already started. They’re finding themselves as artists. They’re finding their groove as singers and storytellers. And, we like it.

While we wait for tour dates to be announced and our next chance to see Annika and Bryton live, we’ll keep listening to Nothing Comes For Free and learning the words so we can sing along when the time comes.

If you haven’t listened to the new album, hit play now and give it a go. And leave a comment telling us which song is your favourite from Nothing Comes For Free.
