Joshua’s Spotify 2019 Wrapped Review and Top 100 Playlist

All over the internet, Spotify users have been sharing their 2019 Wrapped results with their top artists and songs and other fun data. And because I use Spotify to listen to a lot of music all year long and review albums and put together the New Music Spotlight and just be a music fan, I’m going to do the same thing here!

It all starts at the top with my five most played artists. I’m not surprised by the top two. I’m not really surprised by the top five. But I can tell you that there’s a lot of separation in those levels.

Arkells come in at #1 with a bullet. At home, my toddler loves to dance to Arkells’ jams and he’s started to sing the “oh oh oh” parts in Hand Me Downs with me. We often are in the living room and politely ask our Google Home Mini to play Arkells, which has added a lot of minutes to that total. Next, in the #2 slot is Taylor Swift and that feels right. With Lover coming out this year, reputation still a banger and my love for country Taylor too, it adds up.

The three, four, and five spots go country, country, and rock with Maren Morris, Meghan Patrick, and The Beaches. Again, I’m not surprised and I love that this is how the results shake out after a great year of music fandom and reviews and more.

Between music and podcasts, I racked up 43,630 minutes (and counting) on Spotify this year. And if you add in the minutes I’ve watched music videos and vlogs on YouTube, I’m sure I’m well past the 50,000 total. Holy cow.

Here’s the thing though, I regret none of it. When we talk about music and songs and artists we love, the topic of guilty pleasures often comes up. Guess what, I have no guilt about loving music – any of it. So when you go through my Top 100 I’m happy to see them there.

I hope you feel the same way too! Leave a comment telling us who was at the top of your Spotify 2019 Wrapped lists. Which artists and songs did you listen to over and over again?

Note: The decade wrapped info was cool to see too. I wouldn’t have guessed that Sam Hunt was my most listened to artist between 2014-2019. But the data doesn’t lie. Also, I’ve added up the minute totals from 2015 to 2019 and it comes in at 243,459 for the five year period. That’s just over 133 minutes a day assuming I stay on the same pace between now and 2020!

I mentioned before that we often listen to Arkells on the Google speaker, and because it sometimes just rolls for an hour or more at a time, my Top 100 songs playlist is very Arkells heavy at the top. Mixed in though are some Taylor Swift jams as well as Meghan Patrick, Tom Petty, The Beaches, Miranda Lambert, John Mellencamp, Dylan Scott, Maren Morris, Luke Combs, Wes Mack, and more, more, more.

Maybe it’s not the most balanced playlist a year has ever ended with, but I’ll be very honest and tell you that I’d gladly take this over a bunch of songs that are typical toddler repeat listens. I feel fortunate.
