Ones To Watch, Sons of Daughters Live in Toronto

Northside Sessions at the Live Nation Lounge

On Wednesday night we made our way into Toronto’s Liberty Village to see Sons of Daughters and The Reklaws play intimate sets for a small group of fans and industry folks.

Chrystal and Jimmy started the night with a seven-song set, including their current single, I Picture You and their Top 15 single, Ain’t Gonna Be Lonely Long. It was great to see the now Nashville-based duo in the small Toronto room singing their songs. It was also great to see and hear the fans singing along with Sons of Daughters. It’s a special connection when that happens, and for an act to get to that point is something that shouldn’t be overlooked.

We were first introduced to Sons of Daughters when they appeared on CTV’s The Launch. Soon after that, we started hearing their name in country music circles, and then we got to see the duo live at Boots & Hearts and were able to sit down to talk to them.

Since then we’ve had Sons of Daughters on our radar and we know they’ve put themselves on a lot of other people’s radar too.

On Wednesday night the duo played new songs to go along with the tracks we already knew and could sing along with. We heard All Of It and Drinking Songs, and Dangerous Things and dug ’em. And if those songs make it onto the next EP or album, we’ll be 100% good with that. Heck, if anyone’s looking for our opinion, we say toss the new tracks in with I Picture You and add four or five more songs, call the album, Drinking Songs and run with it!

After opening for Tebey in Alberta on The Good Ones Tour and their quick stop in Toronto for the Northside Sessions, Sons of Daughters will now get set to join Meghan Patrick on the Wild As Me Tour. They’ll play 12 Ontario dates with Patrick and we’re sure that they’ll make an impression on the country music fans who might be seeing them for the first time.

And, if you’re not able to make it to any of those dates, keep an eye on festival season when Sons of Daughters will play Festival Country de Lotbinière, Lucan Baconfest, Big Sky Music Festival, and maybe more.
