New Music Spotlight with Tim McGraw, July Talk, Andrew Hyatt, Danielle Bradbery, and Livy Jeanne

New Music Spotlight Feature May 8, 2020

New music from Tim McGraw, July Talk, Andrew Hyatt, Danielle Bradbery, and Livy Jeanne

Even in times like these, new music keeps rolling out – and thank goodness for that!

This week we’ve got a mix of country, pop, and alternative songs for you from Canadian and American artists who continue to catch our attention. At the top of the list is a new-country icon that has been high on my list of favourites since 1994, and from there it’s an assortment of talent that we’ve been listening to, following, and watching live in more recent years.

Hit play and listen to all of the new song picks, and tell us which of them you’ll be adding to your playlists.

Ready? Let’s go!

Artist: Tim McGraw
Hometown: Delhi, LA
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban
Song: I Called Mama
Notes: Tim McGraw doesn’t release music as often as he once did, so I get a little extra excited when I find out he’s got something coming. And I Called Mama deserved my excitement. If you love country, hit play and listen. And then, if you’re lucky enough to be able to, reach out to your mama. You’re gonna want to.

Artist: July Talk
Hometown: Toronto, ON
Genre: Rock / Alternative
Related Artists: Modern Space, Sam Roberts, USS
Song: Identical Love
Notes: Sometimes it’s hard for me to explain what I love about July Talk in few words or written sentences that make sense. It feels like when I use words like unique or special – they don’t say enough. Here’s me trying for Identical Love: July Talk continue to do them, and it’s exactly what I want and need from them. This isn’t the same song that I will hear from any other artist. This isn’t even the same presentation of this song that I would hear from any other artist. I love the sound and the way that Leah and Peter sing and the visuals in the video get added to that. It’s all just wonderful.

Artist: Andrew Hyatt
Hometown: Sudbury, ON
Genre: Country
Related: Dallas Smith, Shawn Austin, Dean Brody
Song: Stuck
Notes: The Nickel City Kid is back with another new single, and we hope that there’s more and more coming. Stuck is Andrew Hyatt’s fifth single release since his last EP, and if that means that we’re going to get a record with this one, I Needed That and more – we’re here for it. Turn it up, feel the story and the song in your country music loving bones, and enjoy.

Artist: Danielle Bradbery
Hometown: Houston, Texas
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Cassadee Pope, Lauren Alaina, Kelsea Ballerini
Single: Never Have I Ever
Notes: Danielle Bradbery is back with Never Have I Ever, and she once again reminds us that as a singer, she’s got everything we want to hear and wish we heard more of it. There’s a good chance you’re going to know some of the thoughts and feelings in this song – and that makes it country. We can’t wait for more from Bradbery, stripped down, handclaps, pop-infused tracks – I’ll take all of it.

In a press release, Bradbery says, “When writing this song, we wanted to capture that feeling where you’re in a new relationship and you’re terrified of the intense feelings you have, but you’re so excited at the same time. We really tried to put that whirlwind of emotions into words. It’s honest and vulnerable, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

Artist: Livy Jeanne
Hometown: Edmonton, AB
Genre: Pop
Related Artists: Lennon Stella, The Band Perry, Danielle Bradbery
Song: Sharing You
Notes: Following up her last release, Finish This Up, Livy Jeanne is here again with her newest track, Sharing You. It’s a heartbreaker layered overtop of a pop track – and it’s no surprise to hear this kind of storytelling from the singer-songwriter who cut her teeth in country before finding her pop groove. The evolution continues, the new music is flowing, and folks better be ready for more Livy Jeanne.

And as a bonus, check out the stripped down version of Sharing You that Livy performed with the Song Suffragettes in April 2019.
