Livy Jeanne Returns with New Single, Finish This Up

The musical evolution of Livy Jeanne continues with the release of her new single, Finish This Up, available now on all of your favourite streaming services.

The new release is her first since 2018’s Wrong For You and Easy For You, and offer more pop from the Edmonton, AB native. We were first introduced to Livy Jeanne, like many listeners, through her earlier country music releases (2015’s Dashboard Renegade) and live performances we caught at the CNE’s Northern Comfort Saloon and at Steak Stock at Ajax Downs. What has been interesting and cool to watch has been the transformation from a pop-country sound to a more straight-pop sound with her newer songs.

Hit play to listen to Finish This Up now via Spotify.

We asked Livy what it feels like to have the Finish This Up out and what it means to her and she said, “I am so excited to finally have this song out to the world. I really took a step back to dig deeper into who I was as a person, an artist, and a songwriter. I just let myself write whatever felt natural instead of trying to “fit in” and the results didn’t disappoint… as in… for the first time in a really long time… I was confident and happy about the music I was making. This is just the beginning. I cant wait for people to experience this new chapter with me.”

Livy’s move from country to pop is reminiscent of Taylor Swift and The Band Perry in their shifts to a new sound after establishing their careers. She’s still the same person and artist, but there’s a new sound and direction. And as music fans, we’re into it. The last thing we want an artist to feel they have to do is stay inside of a box when they need to get out of it. So, for anyone still holding onto the notion that any artist, Livy Jeanne included, has to stay in the same genre or sound for their entire career, we’d kindly suggest that you move out of the way and let artists create art they love.

In listening to Finish This Up, the first artist that came to mind for me was Lennon Stella. The vibes of the two artists mesh well, and sonically they belong on the same playlists and fans of one should be giving a listen to the other, because we think you’ll dig it if you aren’t already on board.

If this is the first track from a new EP or album, we’re looking forward to hearing what else Livy Jeanne has been cooking up. And if we’re taking her words from earlier in the post AND “eeeeee so much more to come!” from her Facebook post as a hint, we’re going to assume there is more new music coming!

For now, we’ve got Finish This Up and we’re into it.

As she said when sharing the song, “FINISH THIS UP is ready to be listened to at a very high volume on all platforms!! Hopefully this will boost your mood during this crazy quarantined time!”

Enjoy!
