New Music from Keith Urban, Cam, ISSORIA, Leah Kate, and Livy Jeanne

The New Music Spotlight is back with country and pop songs, all for your listening pleasure.

We’ve got a big big star in Keith Urban off the top, one of my favourites in Cam next, and then three pop tracks from three talented women that we think you gotta hear.

Give all five songs a listen, and when you’re done leave a comment telling us what you think. And, don’t forget to share your favourites and add them to your playlists.

Ready? Let’s go!

Artist: Keith Urban
Hometown: Nashville via Australia via New Zealand
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley
Song: Superman
Notes: Keith Urban is one of the biggest stars in the entire genre of country music, and with songs like Superman, he’s not letting that star fade at all. The song is catchy, upbeat, sweet and the video is all kinds of fun and captivating to match. Hit play and let the guitar-slinging Aussie sing you a fun one.

Artist: Cam
Hometown: Huntington Beach, CA
Genre: Country
Related Artists: Maddie & Tae, Jillian Jacqueline, Jessie James Decker
Song: Classic
Notes: Cam dropped Classic on Friday and also announced that her new album, The Otherside is coming October 30, 2020. The song is all kinds of good times and I like it a lot. It’s a look back on fun times. It’s ready to make you move. Cam can make me choke right up with a song like Village and she can make me want to dance with a song like Classic. You’re gonna want to dance too. Turn it up.

Artist: ISSORIA
Hometown: Toronto, ON
Genre: Dream Pop
Related Artists: Goodnight, Sunrise, Tove Lo, Banks, Lykke Li
Song: Convicted
Notes: ISSORIA is the new solo project from Vanessa of Goodnight, Sunrise, and comes as a new feel and vibe from the Toronto artist. The track is a product of COVID-19 downtime – and now Convicted is here in time for the new moon with ISSORIA adding “it’s the first moon that we’re allowed to manifest in since like April because of all the eclipses that were getting in the way!” Convicted was written and recorded over Zoom, produced by Chiara Young, and now here for us to listen to and love.

Quote: “Convicted was born during a pandemic-fueled full moon while I was drinking a lot of coffee, listening to a lot of Banks, and thinking a lot about what it really means to [be] free.”

Artist: Leah Kate
Hometown: New York, NY
Genre: Pop
Related Artists: Madi, CRAY, Emily Vaughn
Song: Used To This
Notes: Leah Kate’s got another attention grabber with Used To This – and I’m here for it. The LA pop star gets upbeat on a track that is sweet and lovey on the inside, and it’s a great combo. Prepare to have some fun on this one.

Quote: “With Used To This I’m trying to convey just what the title says, that I could get used to this feeling and getting treated right finally! I’ve had my fair share of toxic relationships – haven’t we all? – and when someone is finally good to you, it’s so refreshing and inspires you to be the best version of you too. I also wanted to keep up with the fun disco vibes – something that’s really taking center stage in pop right now – to get everything in a positive, groovy mood.”

Artist: Livy Jeanne
Hometown: Edmonton, AB
Genre: Pop
Related Artists: Lennon Stella, The Band Perry, Danielle Bradbery
Song: Clear To Me
Notes: Livy Jeanne’s pop progression continues with Clear To Me. The former country singer-songwriter’s pop chops are legit and to watch her find herself and release an uptempo jam is an all-smiles moment. This is one of those songs that flies by and has you ready to hit repeat. 2:50 feels like 30 seconds in the very best way.

Quote: “…this song truly captures my change, my evolution and my arrival of real happiness.”
