Kylie Minogue Comes Back with a Disco Bang!

Kylie Minogue is BACK!

The Australian pop star released Disco on Friday, with 16 tracks on the deluxe offering, and as she has been doing throughout her entire career – Kylie’s got people dancing!

2 and a half years after the release of her album, Golden, and 33 years after she released Locomotion, Minogue has done it again for her fans and pop music lovers.

Off the top with Magic, this is immediately a ‘get up and move’ kind of album. And I dig it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with dance-pop that makes you feel good and makes you want to dance and makes you smile. Hell, an album called Disco that didn’t do those things would just be… off.

Kylie Minogue – Magic

Disco is nearly an hour long – and that’s another HUGE win for me. Often I find myself wishing that EPs were full LPs and that LPs were 13 songs instead of 10. And then here comes Kylie Minogue with 16 tracks across 53 minutes and 46 seconds and captures me. I know that not everyone listens to albums front to back anymore and that playlists give options for mixing and matching – and I’m cool with that and I think that if you’re building a list of pop songs that has Carly Rae Jepsen, Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, etc. there are great picks from this album.

But I also wholly encourage you to hit play and let this play while you let loose or you clean the house and just let the groove make your body move.

That’s what this music is meant to be. To Apple Music, Kylie said, “A disco ball allows you to see light in the darkness,” adding (perfectly for so much about the year 2020), “At its inception, disco was a way of allowing people to dance through their struggle and pain.” and “Even though I started recording before the dramas of 2020, there is a correlation.” Darn right there is. And thank goodness for light in the darkness.

Kylie Minogue – Real Groove

Look, this album just puts me in a happy place. And with the state of the world this year, this month, this week, that’s a great thing for an album to be able to do.

None of us should be surprised that Kylie Minogue dropped a banger-after-banger-after-banger album. But we should smile about it and turn up the volume and share it with other people we think would love it.

And we should dance.

Kylie Minogue – Say Something

If you’re in a good mood and want to dance, hit play on Disco. If you’re in a sour mood and music helps you change your mood, hit play on Disco. And if you love Kylie Minogue, let Disco play and then hit repeat and let it play again.

Enjoy!
