Some songs are perfect when a big moment calls out for something. And right now, at a moment in American history, and the history of politics in the modern world, Foo Fighters‘ 2003 hit, Times Like These is one of those songs.
As a fan of the band I am already in love with this song at all times. But when they closed Saturday Night Live on November 7, 2020 (early into November 8), with a reworked version of Times Like These, it felt bigger and it gave me goosebumps. And then it gave me goosebumps again when I rewatched it. That’s the power of music and emotion. That’s the magic of art and life. That’s what a song can do.
