Morgan Wade Releases Debut Album, Reckless

Morgan Wade’s debut album, Reckless, is here, and y’all need to make room for Morgan at the table.

The Virginia native started writing songs when she was a pre-teen, started performing in her late-teens, and here she is in her mid-twenties with a 10-song album that acts as an introduction to the listening public. At 39-minutes, the songs, her voice, the musicianship, they all have time to wash over you and start digging in. They did for me.

While I would usually tell you to start at track one on the album, or with a lead single, here I’m going to drop in the title track so you can hit play and give it a listen. You can start your start-to-finish listen at the bottom of the post.

Morgan Wade – Reckless

On my first listen through the Reckless album, my mind went to two artists in a comparison/ companion type: Julie Roberts (Wake Up Older and Break Down Here still live rent-free in my head) and Kip Moore (I’d have Morgan open for him tomorrow if I could make that happen).

There are other raw, ‘real’, outside-of-the-polished-system artists that you might get hints of or be reminded of. And I’ll say this about that – good for you and good for them. There’s always room for more music and more musicians and I’m here for it. Add Morgan Wade to the playlists you have with the artists she reminds you of and enjoy.

Morgan Wade has been through some battles. She’s nearly four years sober, but you can hear the way she still remembers the low points throughout the album. It’s dark at times and harsh and boy, I’m glad that she’s come out the other side where she can write about it and sing about it instead of putting herself in positions she doesn’t want to be in anymore.

At just 26, she’s been through more than most, and come out in better shape than a lot of folks have. Because of that, we get songs like these ones. And if this is the start of a career that takes us on a journey with her, Morgan’s in a good place.

Morgan Wade – Other Side

Tattooed, talented, and here for the world to see, Morgan Wade is putting herself out there and we expect her to get a warm welcome. The songs on Reckless show off her voice and songwriting chops. Her work with producers Sadler Vaden and Paul Ebersold comes together nicely. And overall, it’s a win. A big one.

I dropped another video in after the album stream because Don’t Cry is a big song. Heavy. Important. Powerful even. From “I’ll always be my own worst critic” off the top, it’s talking directly to you if you’ve ever felt anything like that. And when she gets to “let it go, let it go, let it go” and then “it’s a beautiful thing to fall apart” I feel it and I don’t think it’s just me.

Hit play on it. Watch her and listen to her.

Now, check out the full tracklist for Morgan Wade’s Reckless and hit play to listen to the stream. And pay attention because when the time comes, you’re going to want to see her live and take in more new music.

Enjoy!
