Foo Fighters Top 10 – by the Numbers

1

Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Foo Fighters have packed a pretty potent punch in the 25+ years since Dave Grohl wrote, recorded and released the first Foos album back in 1995. There have been massive hits and millions of records sold, awards, stadium tours, movies, music videos and more.

Across 10 studio albums, there are a lot of songs to choose from when anyone starts talking about favourites, and that’s why we’re leaning on the math.

To put together this Foo Fighters Top 10 list, we did what we always do and started with Spotify. We took the 10 songs in the ‘Popular’ list and their streaming numbers – and then we went to YouTube.

Note: If you haven’t read or listened to Grohl’s new book, The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music – I highly recommend it. Enjoy.

We did something a little different with this YouTube stats grab though. Because Foo Fighters are so prolific with their music video catalogue, we stuck with those official clips only for streaming numbers and the math. The only exception is Everlong (Acoustic) from the Greatest Hits album (2009) because there is no official music video. Nine out of ten ain’t bad.

After we had our numbers, we added everything up, got our totals, did our sorting – and ended up with a Top 10 list that doesn’t have any opinions or dark horses or personal favourites shoehorned in. There are songs we love very much that aren’t represented here – but that’s the way it goes.

What we do have is a 10 songs list that will let you rock out, sing, scream, remember where you were and who you were when these songs were released or when you first heard them or when they meant the most to you.

Scroll through the list, hit play on your favourites, and leave a comment to tell us which song you listen to most that didn’t make the Top 10 based on the spins we counted.
