Football and Food – NFL Week 4!

Football Loves Sausage!

Hey there kids, we’re a day late and a dollar short, but we’re here!

Sunday brought us week 4 action in the NFL. And it was the best week yet for my picks. I went 11-4 in Sunday’s games and could have been 13-2 if Dallas and Philly hadn’t sucked it up hard.

Side Note: The Cowboys game killed my spirit. I watched baseball for the rest of the day.

I did get some cooking in while I was watching the Lions and ‘Boys.

When I was thinking about cooking for NFL Week 4 I had a ton of ideas and nothing that popped out at me. I ended up making something in the oven that could have been better thought out, but was still pretty tasty.

I grabbed a package of Honey Garlic sausages from the freezer and let them thaw a little bit before putting them in a square tin baking container. I also chopped up some red onion and threw in some cherry tomatoes (I pricked 2 small slits in each tomato to avoid explosions) and put everything together with salt, pepper and garlic seasoning at low heat (200ish) in the oven.

Sausage Dinner - NFL Week 4!

I let things cook down and when the sausages were just over half cooked I cut them in half and mixed everything together some more. I did the same thing a little later cutting the sausage halves into bite sized pieces. While things were out of the oven that time I threw in some frozen veggies and a couple tablespoons of butter for love.

When everything was finished cooking I grated some cheddar and spooned myself a bowl full of goodness.

It could have used more hearty vegetables like you’d find in a stew or maybe even some pasta – but in the end I wasn’t disappointed with how things turned out.

Week 5 is Thanksgiving Weekend in Canada – so I can tell you right now that there will be a lot of food but I won’t be cooking much of it… we’ll see how it goes!
