Football and Food – NFL Week 7

NFL Week 7 Lunch!

Boys and girls, another week of NFL football has come and gone. And while I’m sad to admit to you that I dropped from 10-3 to 8-5 in my picks I am happy to tell you this — BACON IS BACK!

That’s right. After a long layoff for a myriad of reasons I brought back the bacon for dinner this weekend.

First though came lunch. As you can see at the top of the post it wasn’t a special or sophisticated dish. There are jalapeno poppers, some medium cheddar cheese and the french fries.

The fries are the trick though as they have green onion, red onion and carrot mixed in with them and cooked in the oven together. Not a bad way to trick myself into eating some veggies if I do say so myself.

Dinner was the real winner of week 7 though.

I pulled a package of bacon and a tray of sausages out of the freezer Saturday night and by Sunday afternoon they were thawed and ready to rock.

I wrapped the sausages in 1 piece of bacon each (I could have used 2) and placed them on the sheet for the oven. I also threw in red onion, green onion and frozen veg.

For the side I did some plain fries and the finished product was a success.

The Colts may be winless – but my taste buds aren’t.
