Never Drinkin’ Again: Trinity Bradshaw at Boots & Hearts 2014

Trinity Bradshaw Boots and Hearts 2014Boots & Hearts does a fantastic job of bringing new talent to the stage and putting them in front of country music fans. And this year has been no different with 8 talented acts taking part in the SiriusXM Emerging Artist Showcase, hoping to win big and come back next year to perform a full set at Boots & Hearts 2015, August 6-9.

Trinity Bradshaw On Stage Boots and Hearts 2014One of those 2014 Emerging Artist contestants has made her way across Canada personally and professionally, growing up on Prince Edward Island, moving to Calgary and then starting a career that takes you anywhere there’s a stage will put some miles on your boots. And let me tell you this – Trinity Bradshaw’s boots are just getting warmed up!

Trish and I checked out a few of the contestants yesterday and were happy to see such young and excited talent being shown on stage… Trinity was a fantastic example of that with her upbeat, drinking, dancing, partying song Never Drinkin’ Again.

Note: As per Ms. Bradshaw, if you listen to that song and don’t think you have a crazy friend Jenny, you just might be crazy Jenny.

Bradshaw’s voice is all her own, a little raspy in that sexy, sultry way. Very big in that country girl hit maker way. And she uses it to sing with everything she’s got.

After her set we sat down with Trinity to chat about what’s coming up, how exciting it is to be doing what she’s doing and a couple What Ifs that we hope come true for her.

With Trinity getting ready to open for her idol, Shania Twain in PEI I put her on the spot and asked which Shania hit she would choose to sing if she could only pick 1. Almost immediately she answered From This Moment On, adding that it’s tempting to pick one of the upbeat tracks that everyone loves to dance to, but there’s just something special about that song… and it will be her wedding song some day. When I asked her who she’d want to sing the duet version with she didn’t take long to answer Dallas Smith with a big smile on her face.

Note: Don’t tell anyone, but the way we talked about Dallas Smith might make someone think that Ms. Bradshaw has a little crush on him. And if that were the case, we wouldn’t blame her.

TheReviewsAreIn Trinity Bradshaw Boots and Hearts 2014Since we were talking about girl country, I asked Trinity the same question that I asked Jess Moskaluke about the state of female country and what we need to do to bring it back from the Bro Country movement we’re in right now. She agreed that we’re in a slow period for women making hit records after a boom in the 90s with Jo Dee Messina, Faith Hill, Martina McBride et al. and said that she would love to be part of the group that brought it back with artists like Moskaluke, Mackenzie Porter and Kira Isabella.

She also told us that she would love to one big tour with a group of female country acts and take it across to country to showcase the talent and awesome music that they are making to help kickstart that movement. It reminded me of Lilith Fair, but with awesome cowboy boots and more beer.

2014 is shaping up to be a big year for Trinity Bradshaw, she played the Calgary Stampede, has made it to the Main Stage at Boots & Hearts as a finalist in the SiriusXM Emerging Artist Showcase, she’ll open for Shania in Charlottetown at the Founder’s Week concert, and then she’ll head back to Alberta for the CCMAs in Edmonton in September. Trinity told us that after all of that wraps up she’s going to take some down time to write, work on some songs that they’ve already got together and start recording some new music to give to the fans and radio.

Trinity Bradshaw Boots and Hearts SiriusXM Emerging Artist ShowcaseWe also asked Trinity about playing the Rock ‘n’ Horse Saloon in Toronto, and she beamed as she talked about how pleasantly surprised she was to walk in and see a real saloon style bar in Toronto. She’s used to it out west, but didn’t realize that she was going to get that same feeling here. It’s pretty awesome to see our urban playground making waves in Country Music.

Sunday Trinity Bradshaw will take to the Main Stage at Boots & Hearts before Hunter Hayes in the final round of the SiriusXM Emerging Artist Showcase. It’s down to her and Ty Baynton… and if you made us choose right now, based on what we saw yesterday and what we can picture in the future – we’re voting for Trinity.

Keep your eyes open for shows, new music, and anything else you can find from this Canadian Country Girl. You won’t regret it.
